About Me

Reformed hellraiser Nik Mills has been involved in the Leeds music scene for a long time now. Whether it be performing himself, or providing equipment to promoters, DJs & clubs, in the city & beyond, enabling them to perform through his hire company GAP Pro Audio. Nik has held numerous dj residencies in the city, and helped to run 'Choonz World-wide', Steve Luigi's legendary, but now sadly defunct record shop. Nik was choosen by Steve because of his vast musicial knowledge, which spans many genres. Nik's personal taste in music is as wide and varied as his record collection, and as an avid record collector of some 15 years, that's pretty damn wide. This, coupled with Nik's schizophrenic gemini personality means that Nik is as equally at home spinning soulful vocal house and US garage, as he is throwing down filthy electronic grooves. His chill-out and eclectic back room sets are the stuff of legend. The consisitency of his technical ability, his set structure, and ability to read and play to a crowd, shine throughout. Recently Nik has been playing alongside Funk D'Void, Damian Lazarus, Jojo De Freq, Dave Angel, Touche, Jamie Anderson (Rotation), Envoy, (Soma Records), Alexander Robotnick, (whom, with DiscoAnnie, he brought to Leeds for the first time) & Colin Dale, (abstrakt dance). Nik produces music under the alias 'Stickleback'. He shares a production studio with the legends Soundex & Speculum. He is currently working on productions of his own and remix projects for Speculum, and Death On The Balcony. The fruits of his labour will be making their way onto this page soon. When he can get any time in the damn studio that is. ;) Its quite hard to put a finger on the Nik Mills style of Music, and this is a good thing... A good idea, however, can be gauged from his charts & mixes. Spiky, intelligent, well-produced, mostly European, electronic music is the order of the day. Think maximal, not minimal.
