About Me

NICK'S BIOG
Nick first got hooked to the wonderful sound we call house music way back in 1990, he was in his room back in Northampton listening to a pirate radio station when this track called ‘Future’ by Mister Monday came bursting through the airwaves. He had never heard anything like it, it was totally alien to his ears but he knew that this was something special. At the tender age Nick was back then, he could only listen to the stories told by older friends about the acid house parties and raves they had been to every weekend around the Midlands. If Nick couldn’t go to the raves, then he decided he would start buying as many records as he possibly could that resembled that first instant hit of acid house. With regards to going to the acid parties he knew his time would come and it did. In 1994 after buying his first set of decks Nick was off to university in Stoke to study art. Instead of knuckling down to his studies Nick suddenly realised that this was the opportunity to discover the world of house music and hedonism he dreamed of. Consequently he spent the next three years of his life travelling up and down the country with mates in a battered old Nissan Micra to as many club nights as he could (respect to Chris where ever you are). These included Golden (Stoke), The Hac, Home, Holy City Zoo (Manchester), Wobble, Que Club (Birmingham), Cream, Voodoo (Liverpool), Love to be (Sheffield), Up Yer Ronson, Back II Basics, Hard Times (Leeds), Camden Palais and Heaven in London. After living in London and Manchester for a number of years trying to start off various club nights to little success, Nick finally settled in Leeds in 2002. It wasn’t soon until he got the club bug again and finally set up Polaroid in 2004 with two other friends. This led to Nick booking and playing alongside the likes of Erol Alkan, Annie Mac, Simian Mobile Disco, Optimo, The DFA, Jo Jo De Freq, Riton, Boys Noize, Ladyrton and Dave Beer. Polaroid has also given Nick the opportunity to DJ at other respected nights around the country such as Heavenly Social in London, Stealth in Nottingham and more closer to home the Dirty Disco and Tribal Sessions in Leeds. In 2007 Nick with co Polaroid promoter Joe Morris plan to take Polaroid to bigger and better things. Like taking Polaroid on the road from the security of the little rave cave known as Wire, and finally and more importantly continue to book the quality DJ’s that Leeds deserve. On a personal note this year Nick plans to shake off his horizontal attitude to life and start to make some music and see the realisation of thought that he can do better. Nick’s DJ’ing style consists of a deep techy acid house groove and anything that gives him the instant hit of excitement that he first got way back in 1990.
