&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Still from 'Se No Vitz' videoI am an artist, designer and fabricator. I am at my best when I am creating. Sometimes life pulls me away but when I crawl back happiness flows within me. I love getting lost in my work. If I get depressed I just have to ask myself when was the last time I was creating?
I was born in New York but I grew up and live in Los Angeles. The city has it's problems but it also has it's treasures. I've seen this place change a lot since I was a lad. I'm glad. For the most part change is making L.A. better but a few things have gotten worse. For example, all my favorite indie coffee shops keep closing and traffic is god awful.
I did not have the easiest of childhoods but i guess it could have been worse. Suffice it to say, I am a better person for for my experiences.
Today, I live in a cool space in Mid-City L.A called Basswerks. Basswerks is my studio and a place in which I put together occasional art shows. The shows are a lot of fun but a lot of work too. It's an awesome feeling when you throw your heart into something and it comes out great.
I pay my way by making funky furniture, elegant gates, steampunk railings, sophisticated bar tops, or whatever people are willing to pay me to make custom for them. I work in metal, wood, plastics, glass and various other materials. Steel is my specialty but I think steel is best when used in conjunction with other materials. My advice to you out there, is never let the past pull you down. Instead build on it and move forward. Be proactive and make your dreams come true. It won't be easy and it probably wont be fast but as someone once told me slow and steady is the way to go. You can do it! Don't let anyone tell you, you can't and while your at it embrace your weirdness.
