Influences:
"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past" (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
The Beautiful And Damned (our forthcoming album/t.b.r. in May 2009):
Picture Depeche Mode in the days of "Songs Of Faith and Devotion" clashing late 70s and modern shoegaze / post punk (Joy Division, These New Puritans, The Sound, The Chameleons, Comsat Angels, Bernd Das Brot ;) , ...) with influences of early 70s glam: T. Rex, Bowie, Queen, Roxy Music in their training-cellar produced by NIN / Flood and Justice or someone who really lives modern electronique post punk like These New Puritans and/or industrial music. Our new songs, currently in the making, will be much more influenced by electronic & industrial but will have a strong shoegaze influence and will certainly have the alternative edge that our old (early) fans liked combined with some peachy glam rock, hot killer(s) guitars, and a inevitable and wanted dark wave and gothic influence. And our music will always have a strong influence of punk and post new wave! Well typical Ballad Bombs, in a way, one will never be able to properly pigeonhole us. That’s the way we like it. We are what we are!
And Then We Danced:
Depeche Mode, Joy Division, The Cure, Sex Pistols, Bauhaus, Suicide, The Sound, Dead Can Dance, T. Rex, Bowie, Sisters of Mercy, Sex Pistols, John Foxx, Devo, Wall Of Voodoo, The Smiths, Stray Cats, Meteors, Fischer Z, Front 242, Gene Loves Jezebel, A Split Second, Prince, Railway Children, early Simple Minds, Snake Corps, Sad Lovers & Giants, Love & Rockets, Comsat Angels, The Chameleons, And Also the Trees, The Clash, The Stranglers, Police, Clan Of Xymox, 10cc, The Lotus Eaters, New Order, Eurythmics, Led Zeppelin, Front 242, U2, Kate Bush, Eurythmics, ABC, Bronski Beat, Dead Or Alive, Psyche, Voice Of America, A Popular History Of Signs, Fiat Lux, Until December, Little Nemo, Low Life, Bazooka Joe, Click Click, Shock Therapy, Snake Corps, Alien Sex Fiend, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Bollock Brothers and not to forget: Queen and The Sparks. ... and then: did we forget to mention Cabaret Voltaire? Shame on us! We were (more unconsciously) influenced by constructivism and suprematism art, dadaism, futurismand the books and works of Jean-Paul Sartre, Hermann Hesse especially "Demian" and "Steppenwolf", Kafka and André Gide, James Joyce, ... Our first album is PURE 80s! No wonder: all the songs have been written and recorded in the mid/late 80s or early 90s and just recently been reedited for the 07 album release.
THAT WAS THEN ... BUT THIS IS NOW!
Sounds Like:
THE BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNED,
our upcoming (difficult) second album, currently emergencing, will be quite different and much harder and with a much better sound than the old songs! In a few words: on THE BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNED we want to go back to the sound of Depeche Mode in the glory days of their fantastic "Songs Of Faith And Devotion" album and croosbeat this with modern electronic music, influences. There will also be a few early 70s/Queen and other glam fixings and of course our typical Ballad Bombs post punk seasonings.
AND THEN WE DANCED
was recorded in the late 80s and the album is BOLLOCKS as sure as eggs is eggs!! NEVER MIND... back then our favourite bands have been Depeche Mode, Joy Divison, The Smiths, The Police, The Stranglers and Wall Of Voodoo, but also glamrock bands, such as Bowie, early Queen, T Rex, Roxy Music, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. We have received some very unfair reviews for the album as well as exceptional doxologies. Well after all ATWD is a late (re)-release of three naive young German dudes playing and singing some music that we really liked by that time as good we could ...
