This outlet is for the songs I can't do with The Dross or Clubfungus. It's songs I've written in the past which mean something special to me, or for songs I write today, but which are too personal, so that I can't play them with the other ones.
I know that the result is quite bad, but you have to keep in mind that I'm working on my own. I only started recording my own songs a couple of months ago and it is really difficult - even for me - to learn all I need to know to make a song sound good. I always considered myself a musician, so the technical stuff is hard for me.
Apart from that I have to find ways to communicate with my instruments. I guess I became quite an acceptable rhythm-guitarist over the years and I never ever had problems with singer-songwriter stuff, but it feels different with an electric guitar in your hand. I manage somehow, but it takes time.
I don't have a drummer - of course, so I use a drum plug-in . If you've ever wondered why it sounds so different. And I refuse to play bass, even if I managed somehow. I leave that to the ones who are good at it.
Working on my songs is therapy for me. I find back to myself when I spend days concentrating on that one thing. I always feel empty when I shut down the pc to listen to the final result (or what I call final at that moment), so I have to start working on another one to fill the emptiness. I want to express images and feelings - I do it for myself. If others like the song, it's good, but I have to live with it first of all. That's why I have nasty prefectionistic tendencies.
I wish I could play music all the time, but usually I have a job which usually leaves me no time for it. And then there's my other hobby - the puppets I make. And some sports - quite necessary at my age. Well, I muddle on as long as it's fun - and I'm sure I'm getting there - one way or the other. It's as I said: Good things come to the brave! Here I am ;-)..
