"...shadowy, electro-heavy record, laced with sensuality and just a dash of levity." -Jeff Trainor, The Source Magazine
"Aptly described as poetic circuitry, the music and mystique of The Mr. Black X-periment is both unique and stimulating." -Robin Steeley, Crave Magazine
"...the journey through his mind (Mr. Black) is one interesting ride. A mixture of hardcore beats and heavy intros, 'Stimulus:101' is more likely heard at your local fetish night than Goth Club, but kaRIN of Collide's guest vocals makes the crossover capabilities strong. For an 'Xperiment' this album shows a lot of promise for further creative musical endeavors." -Jessika, Gothic Beauty Fall 2005
"Harkening back to the good old days before industrial split into different genres (trance, acid, techno, goth, ambient, and more), this album brings with it massive popular appeal. -Aaron Kelly, Salem Monthly January 2006

If any album was to become the soundtrack for post-2000 music from between the sheets, the debut release from The Mr. Black X-periment, Stimulus: 101, would score in more ways than one. Its first review coming from director Uwe Boll (House of The Dead, Bloodrayne) who labeled the album the perfect album to play when romance turns into handcuffs and whipped cream.
The debut 9-song effort from BMBtv host, former X94 radio host and S.P.A.M.M. Magazine publisher, Mr. Black, marks a simple accomplishment for the Portland-born creator. I didnt set out to record an album with fame or the title of a great musician in mind, says Black. I did a record for myself. I needed to express emotions and things that have affected my life and how I view those experiences. Stimulus: 101 was inspired by feelings that I simply channeled into music. Whether its a simple guitar riff or a computer-generated harp, this album has an emotion behind every beat. From what could be best explained as diverse audio synergy, Stimulus: 101 is a culmination of electronic, hip-hop, hard rock and contemporary music influences. Ethereal, the album's first single, features guest vocals from one of todays most brilliant female vocal talents, kaRIN of Collide. The album was co-mixed by Statik (Powerman 5000, Tool, Skinny Puppy) and mastered by Eric Zimmermann (Snoop Dogg, Filter, Alanis Morrisette). Stimulus: 101 was arranged, co-mixed and produced by Mr. Black.
Stimulus: 101 flows with an obvious undertone of industrial energy and poetic chaos. To label the album would defeat its purpose. It is the best of many music worlds coming together to blend eight pieces into one creative puzzle. This album is a world of musical influence stained on one CD, explains Mr. Black. I grew up on Journey, Exodus, Too Short and Egyptian Lover. I now listen to Delerium, Deftones, Meshuggah and Tech N9ne. Diversity is everything and this album is everything about diversity. The record is nothing like me yet everything about me and how open-minded my taste in music has become over the years.
The release of Stimulus: 101 comes on the cusp of another project Mr. Black has put years and hours of attention into. Formerly known as SOStv, BMBtv (aka: Bomb Television) is a new 1-hour music video, cartoon and featured artist program which already is gathering the attention of television studio executives in the United States and Asia. A Special Edition DVD of the debut episode has recently surfaced with over 2 hours of eye-opening content. The official website (www.bmbtv.com), which went live in June of 2004, is already averaging 4.5 million worldwide hits per month. Mr. Black has also recently unveiled his new extreme clothing line which was created as a tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives in recent war efforts overseas. The Mr. Black Clothing Co. is simple in concept with creations for both men and women. Available online (www.mrblackclothing.com) and at local clothing stores, The Mr. Black Clothing Co. is currently working on distribution in the United States through mall-stained clothing giant, Hot Topic.
