Marc Ecko Presents "Tagging Air Force One":
Watch as Marc Ecko Tags the PRESIDENTS PLANE! He jumps a barbed wire fence and spray paints air force one. Insane!!
Marc's Words:
My name is Marc Ecko, I'm the guy thats been dreamin up crazy ideas his whole life and been beeing told that youre probably not going to be able to pull them off.
Our Rights:
What makes this country great, is that the best and brigtest minds that built it dreamt of what could be rather than what couldnt be. They rejected tradition and convention. They created, they expressed, they debated and a country was born that is still the freest in the world. The president is the leader of this country, his highest level of responsibility arguably is to protect our freedoms. The first among those is the right to speech. Thats why I tag plane, the president can't fly around like a rock star talkin about how americas the greatest country in the world but ignore what makes it great. I thought the idea of spraypainting the presidents plane would be a great way to open a dialouge and encourage a new way of thinking.
Graffiti:
Well I've been inspired by graffiti my whole life, I really never got much higher than the eight foot ceiling in my parents garage and there are thousands of kids like me whose voices are being illegaly supressed.
The Law:
In America you can join the military at eighteen years old and fight for this country overseas. You can file a lawsuit at the age of eighteen, you can get married, you can start a business but in New York City you can't buy a broad tipped marker or a can of spray paint until your twenty one. If you have a marker in your pocket you can be arrested and thrown in jail. Many cities have simmarly over broad laws, the fact that ignorant politicians continue to enact laws targeted against one of the most recognized art forms arguably that my generation deliverd to american popular culture and the world just doesn't sit well with me. Since then I learned that there are cities all over this country with laws that restrict kids who want to pursue legal art inspired by graffiti. Look, there is no grey area here, vandalism and the destruction of other peoples property is wrong. Thats not what i'm advocating, simply put im advocationg everyones right to free speech. Yes we live in a crazy world, and yes im gratefull to be a American, I love everything about this country the opportunities, the challanges and the security that it provides. But I also refuse to live in fear. I have a different view of the American Dream. Remember, opperating from a position of fear is to opperate from a position of weakness. Instead, lets kick up our feet, lets chill and celebrate the fact that were still free.
What you can do:
If you are under 18 (or under 21 in New York City), and you want your voice to be heard in the fight for creative freedom, just email [email protected] stating your name, age, city and state of residence, and your telephone number and someone from Ecko Unltd will contact you and let you know how you can participate. You do not have to have been denied the right to purchase spray paint because of your age, although those instances will be more helpful in our fight for justice. You will be able to assist in this fight if you simply engage in school projects, permission pieces, and other legal forms of creative expression via graffiti art, and thus these unconstitutional laws have impeded your ability to purchase the tools you need for your creative expression.
Thank you for your time,
Marc Ecko
