Summerhead

New-Age Electronica to Synthpop to Hip-Hop to DJ

About Me

EW Records presents the deluxe edition of Summerhead's album Liberation. Originally released with 10 tracks in 2003, the deluxe version includes 5 additional live tracks and the single "Hot Summer Love". "Winterplace" has received some special attention lately—having been included in a US national compilation CD promoting California Tan suntan lotion (interesting?), is included in the feature film Peculiarities which is currently on the film festival circuit, and is receiving airplay on Salt Lake City's X-96. Anyhow, we thought we would make this special edition release of Liberation available to our mySpace friends for a special price—$8.00 US. It has some bonus tracks and new artwork, and once the pressing of 100 is gone—it's gone! Liberation - the Deluxe Edition is available at: www.summerhead.com or directly from PayPal:
Summerhead is inspired by vintage synth music, film compositions, and German dance music. Layering new age-electronica, spoken word, and an occasional hip hop vocal track on top of basement beats, the result is a forward-thinking invention that is new and beautiful.
Summerhead is a collaboration between sound engineer/producer James Joel Holmes, and minimalist composer Gary Svedin. Their 2002 album Watershed was originally released with an accompanying full-length film directed by Holmes. Their next album, Liberation, received critical acclaim for its single "Winterplace." Summerhead is currently working on a new album to be released in the spring of this year.

We recommend that the legions of cranky, sourpuss, Grandpa Simpson-like people who don't consider ambient electronica a "real" form of music give a listen to Summerhead (MySpace.com/SummerheadBand). E...
