DOMO Music Group
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, DOMO Records has been a successful independent record label for more than 12 years. Established in 1993, DOMO Records is the creation of record producer & engineer Eiichi Naito who envisioned a home for true artistic talent.
Artists are the priority at DOMO, states Naito. I wanted to create a business environment that focused on artist development while encouraging artistic freedom. True artists have unique abilities and can make wonderful music when allowed to grow. Even the name of the record label reflects Naitos genuine appreciation of artistry. DOMO comes from the polite Japanese greeting domo arigatou which translates to thank you very much.
DOMO Records launched with the signing of Japanese composer Kitaro . An international sensation, Kitaro is widely recognized as a leader in the New Age music movement. Shortly after signing with DOMO, Kitaro was nominated and won a Golden Globe for best original score for his work in the film Heaven & Earth. It was the first of many nominations for the stellar talent who went on to win a Grammy in 2000 .
Kitaro joining the DOMO roster was an inspiration to Naito. He quickly recognized the significant impact the label could have in the music landscape. With a unique approach to music and business, Naitos desire to embrace true talent included multiple music genres. Naito has guided DOMO Records and developed an artist roster of innovative, New Age, World and J-pop music talent. In addition to Kitaro, DOMO has become the home to successful international artists Twelve Girls Band , pianist Dave Egger and Japanese Yoshida Brothers .
DOMO Records has grown from the passion of one individual to a thriving independent label succeeding in the changing current of the music industry. Clearly, Naitos vision has been realized. DOMO Records Thank you for the music.
