About Me

GO READ MY BLOG: Notes from Ringside .

I am the editor of the leading MMA and lifestyle magazine Fighters Only Magazine .

I like to take pictures, and I like to write stuff. I'm quite good at doing both.

Every so often I realise I've got a pretty good deal going on.

If I wasn't doing what I'm doing, I would either be a cycle courier or work in a comic book shop. Anything except an office job.

I'm just trying to be a better person.

My Interests

This is the finest quote ever, and I must do the right thing and attribute it to my friend and minion (ha) Andrew 'Raging Mellish' Garvey.

"Fighters Only magazine, a truly fine publication, enormously improved under his [Hywel Teague's] ongoing reign of editorial terror"

Thanks Andy :-).

*********************
Once upon a time I used to sit in an office all day long, slowly going insane. I managed to leave before I went postal.

Now I'm busy living life as I always should have.

Things I like:

    ♣ Kettlebells,
    ♣ hot chicks with tattoos,
    ♣ cold weather,
    ♣ strip clubs,
    ♣ funky gymnastic type stuff,
    ♣ dodging traffic,
    ♣ photography,
    ♣ lillies (the flowers),
    ♣ reading,
    ♣ tattoos,
    ♣ educating myself and others,
    ♣ writing,
    ♣ singing to loud music,
♣ walking around looking at shit and noting down anything interesting,
    ♣ drinking coffee,
    ♣ making great conversation,
    ♣ having adventures,
♣ living to tell the tale,
♣ debating the endless possibilities of life
    and...
    ♣ my sexy redhead.

Things I don't like:
♣ Stupid people who do stupid things,
    ♣ bitten fignernails,
    ♣ smoking,
    ♣ people with no manners,
    ♣ ignorance,
    ♣ traffic wardens,
♣ cash points that charge you to take money out,
    ♣ my phone bills,
♣ my gas and electricity bills,
    ♣ bills in general!
    ♣ really hot weather,
♣ being told what to do,
    ♣ broken bones,
♣ lacking any ability to dance,
    ♣ cold callers,
    ♣ deadlines,
    ♣ washing up,
    ♣ reality TV
    and...
♣ the fact I will never have abs, ever.

I'd like to meet:

'Jack': When people think you're dying, they really, really listen to you, instead of just...
Marla Singer (interrupts): - instead of just waiting for their turn to speak?

Music:

Music is good.

Movies:

I like films about life, films about love, and films full of explosions and other mindless crap.

I've never seen Scarface all the through or any of the Godfather films, and I have no intention of bothering to waste that much time.

A couple of favourites:

Television:

Ignore the shining beacon of untruth that speaks to you from your living room. Instead, go outside and play. Find some white dog poo. Fall over in some dirt, brush yourself off and get up again. Come home really tired and have a bath. Try it, its like you're nine years old all over again.

Free your mind, ditch the TV.

Books:

For you to look at my library is to gaze into my soul.

Am currently reading: On Bullfighting by A.L. Kennedy.

Always on the hunt for a new read, so recommendations are welcome

Heroes:

People who do extraordinary things.

Chris Moon, a man who lost his leg to a landmine but runs ultra-marathons through deserts for charity. Try and tell him he can't do what he wants to do.

The only superhero worth a damn.

"I got no time for your MySpace"

I rarely come to MySpace anymore. I used to tinker with my profile all the time, now I look at it and it feels like a pair of old and beat-up trainers. There is a fondness of sorts cos of the good t...

Green Tea rocks

I've acquired something of a taste for green tea.  I used to like drinking cups back when I worked in the hellish confines of a call centre as the tea bags were free (kind of - I stole them from ...

Global warming? If only wasps could speak.

This little bugger flew into my home office around midnight Saturday night.  When was the last time you saw a wasp in February?  If this isn't a sure-fire sign of climate change then I don't...
