British Intelligence

Official B.I Myspace "ANOTHER NEW TRACK ADDED"

About Me

From London and Essex in the UK, comes Hip-Hop/Rock band British Intelligence. Long-time buddies Steve Lavers and Jay Aldridge joined forces in the studio around 2003 and completed an early demo album along the way. Their pioneering new sound became trailblazing in its diversity. Producer/guitarist Steve Lavers knowledge of break beats and rock influences and Jay Aldridge's MC background and shared love of hip hop/dance music, created a truly unique and potent new mix.
After the first initial demo's it seemed obvious to both, the only way to move the project forward was as a band. The move from studio-act to live band was inevitable but held it's own challenges as who could play such an eclectic mix of styles and performance. This marked a significant progression and would ultimately thrust the sound to an even greater height.
Joining them in the studio on percussion for several of the early demos was Shovell (M-People, N.O.W) and he seemed an ideal choice for the live band, so the call was made and he had joined the band. By now, many of the original demos had been re-written after school-friend and session bassist Tim Jackson had laid down new bass parts to most of the tracks Steve, Jay and Shovell had worked on. For that reason, Tim was also asked to join. Later that same month another school friend was asked to join, connecting the band to Steve's Essex roots once more. Flamboyant scratch DJ; Mr (Danny) Bounce joined the band with big beats and an even bigger personality. The band was growing and so was the music. Something else was needed to project the sound...
Knowing Jays lyrics like no other, Jay's brother Leon was added on backing vocals. Collectively they bring a colossal range of influences and colour to the vocal sound like only two brothers could. The final process was to find a drummer who could hold it all together! It was first thought that a known top session guy would be the order of the day and several were auditioned but just never had the right feel.
Tim Jackson's drummer from a previous band had always been in mind but had other commitments at the time. Finally he turned up one day and it was insane how it suddenly worked. Once again the demos were re-worked to complete the British Intelligence sound. Perfecting the hard-hitting audio experience, the band are busy doing remixes and most recently getting 2 cuts on Arsenal FCs urban music album alongside Blak Twang, Rodney P/Arthur Baker and other British acts. The British Intelligence live sound is extreme in many ways, from sub bass in ya face, to blistering highs. Bands like Rage against the machine, Living Colour and the Red-hot chilli peppers raised the bar. Now British Intelligence have sneaked up behind and stolen it!
