"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure." - Severus Snape

About Me

Freelance writer (member of RWA - Fantasy/Paranormal Chapter and NYC Chapter), Performer (AEA union member), published/produced playwright, licensed tour guide with the city of New York (yes, you must be licensed to do anything in NYC), tattooed, Singer, Vegetarian, certified Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, loyal fan of a decent Goth club, and more than a little obsessed with the 19th century. Author of a Dark Fantasy trilogy in process, which only feeds into said obsession with all things Victoriana. Come on, who doesn't love a finely tailored corset and supernatural mayhem? Tried to convince Mom and Dad when I was 7 that there was a mistake at the hospital and that I was actually heir to the throne of England. No luck. Still battling Princess issues.
IN PRINT @ CRESCENT MOON PRESS : "DARK NEST", a futuristic, psychic fantasy novella, can be found HERE . Check out my WEBSITE for previews of my novels and Amazon links to my published plays-- which, for you NYers, can be found at The Drama Bookshop on 40th Street/7th Ave. in Manhattan! (Check out their Myspace page below!) The past few years have seen me plugging away at my novels, my true loves.
UPCOMING RELEASE: THE STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL TALE OF MISS PERCY PARKER - a Ghostly Victorian Fantasy - FALL 2009 From DORCHESTER PUBLISHING
My tidal currents are guided and inspired by a rich faith, from which flows many blessings, such as an incredible family and the light of my heart; Marcos. I'm thrilled by spooky stories as well as absurdly cute fluffy animals. Peace be with you!

My interests are innumerable. See nearby 'me' referenced paragraph. I don't have time for other interests other than what I'm already interested in. Sure do love Penguins, though.

I'd like to meet:

See "Heroes" (The list of posthumous authors I will someday meet in the great coffee-shop in the sky doesn't apply here)

Music:

Ralph Vaughan Williams ("The Lark Ascending" is the most beautiful piece of music ever created), VNV Nation, Over the Rhine, Evanescence, Depeche Mode, Mozart, Tori Amos, Covenant, Radiohead, Dvorak, Tom Waits, Concrete Blonde, White Stripes, The Cure, The Smiths, Tchaikovsky, old hymns, Rufus Wainwright, Ozymandias, Deathcab for Cutie and The Postal Service, Celtic music, Phillip Glass, Marcos' inspired singing/songwriting,and any Muppet movie soundtrack.

Movies:

Some of you may understand a theme here: Sense and Sensibility, The Harry Potters, Die Hard, Dogma, The January Man, Mesmer, Truly Madly Deeply, Rasputin... Okay, other than Alan Rickman's entire bio (how I do adore him): Jan Svankmajer's "Faust", Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Labyrinth, The Muppet Movie, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Guy Maddin's Dracula, The Saddest Music in the World, A Room with a View, The Age of Innocence, Being John Malcovich, Howard's End, It's a Wonderful Life, Nosferatu, The Sixth Sense, Titus, Lord of the Rings.Speaking of movies, I'd like to do more film. Preferrably with Muppets or Alan Rickman - if it were with Muppets AND Alan Rickman I'd spontaneously combust with joy. Would that be too much to ask?

Television:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, The Office (British), Monty Python's Flying Circus, X-Files- (but only in the days of Mulder and all that sexy tension), Buffy, Star Trek the Next Generation and Dr. Who. Oh, and as Law and Order employs lots of NY, gotta love it.

Books:

Harry Potter, the canon of Austen, Wharton, King and Gaiman, Letters to a Young Poet and all Rilke's poetry, Breathing Space; A spiritual journey through the South Bronx- written by my inspiring pastor Rev. Heidi Neumark, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, Dracula, the Bible, The Tao of Pooh, and my dear friend Isabo Kelly's fabulously fun work: www.isabokelly.com, and let's not forget the DSM-5. Kidding.

Heroes:

God, Jane Austen, J. K. Rowling, Emma Thompson, director Anne Bogart, Mom, Dad, my Grandparents, my sis Kelsey aka Spud, Reverend Heidi Neumark, Stephen Colbert, every species of bird, playwrights Caryl Churchill, Timberlake Wertenbaker and Tom Stoppard, Jesus, Al Franken, Jon Stewart, Neil Gaiman, Frederick Law Olmstead the designer of Central Park, Francis Perkins the first Secretary of Labor and first female cabinet member, Rainer Maria Rilke, Emily Dickenson, Guy Maddin, Jim Henson, and mi amor: Marcos de Jesus. And Ghandi. And Dr. Martin Luther King. And Martin Luther. And the Dalai Lama is pretty kick-ass too. Blessed are the Peacemakers. And, yes, of course, there's Alan Rickman; my ultimate Hero.
