About Me

The story of MINDCAVE begins in October 1998. The brothers Roland & Chris Viehboeck and their recent friend Rudi Hanl decide to storm the “olymp of music” from their little reharsal in the solitude of the Upper Austrian Mühlviertel. That this is not a simple job and could take a couple of years, the band realises quickly - particularly when you decide just to do your own thing - however: Where you put in energy, energy comes out!
According to this self-appointed motto the guys take a plane straight to London... and ... almost gain a record deal with a London Label in 2001. The song “Over The Hill” on the debut album “Preconstructed” seems to be worth a deal. But big problems with the band's internal management dashes all the hopes. Mindcave has to go back home...
Within the next couple of years Mindcave plays all imaginably more or less known clubs, contests & festivals. The guys gain a lot of awards, like Best-Singer (Newcomer Award), Best Guitar & Best Bass Player (Emergenza Award) among others. But this is not enough. There is always an urge to extend its own world, to work with other artists and to enhance the “band's voice” which is named “Mindcavia” from that time on.
MINDCAVE gains reputation with a song called “Olympia”, which has been nominated for the German art exhibition Airport-Art-II in Frankfurt am Main in 2004. The video clip for the song “Once” (directed by mi:la/blattwerk) is being nominated at the Filmriss-Festival 2005 (art movies) in Salzburg. From the very beginning on the band's songs are in the rotations of all important alternative-radio-stations in & around Austria and the videos are broadcasted on gotv (international, Austria-based music-channel).
In the year 2005 the band starts sending out demo tapes with ideas & scraps of new songs for the new album. A great number of German music-producers reply and a lot of them would like to “make it” - after a while the band comes to a decision: Kurt Ebelhäuser, who is a “figurehead” in the alternative/indie-rock-scene in Germany, has been chosen to produce the new Mindcave album. Within the next couple of months the band records 11 songs in the legendary “Tonstudio-45” in Koblenz - the album's title: “The Velvet Sky”
After years of playing the MINDCAVE bass on tour, Ronald Hanl becomes a “real” member of the band in 2007 - the band “mutates” into a double-brothers-band.
On the 28th of September 2007 the new album „The Velvet Sky“ will be released via Cavian-Records and distributed in Austria by HOANZL. In autumn 2007 the band tours with 2 different shows: “acoustic-sessions” in small clubs & “plugged-sessions” in all bigger clubs & halls. It's the very first time, that the band tours Belgium as well...
