About Me

PUNXFEST III - Saturday May 17 & Sunday May 18th. 2 days, 20 bands, $10 per day, All-Ages DIY!!!!!Special thanks to our generous sponsors who have donated awesome door prizes such as Matt Kolling at Twilight Tattoo, where many of our crew have been heavily worked on, Washburn Guitars by way of Capitol Guitars, Familia skate shop, Radio K for giving us air time to promote the hard working local bands who comprise this awesome lineup, and many more. For those 21+ there will be $2 PBR tall boy cans, probably a Jagermeister shot deal, Red Bull, and last but not least, a dunk tank! This year's effort was a serious ball buster and we're very proud of the outcome, so far.

THIS YEAR’S .. As the “punk” touring circuit has been increasingly professionalized and much of the national scene gobbled up by organizations like Clear Channel, focusing outward has only served to weaken our own endeavors locally. TCSP is as guilty of this as anyone, as we had spent many years attracting national acts and building a reliable infrastructure for these bands to utilize in the hopes that by applying local bands to touring bills we could cultivate local talent. Unfortunately this no longer seems to be the case as many booking agents now go directly to clubs, often clubs with no vested interest in our particular scene and no care whatsoever for the outcome of scene growth so long as they make their money. We have been exploited and now we're being used as a feeding troff. We tired of all this posturing coastal pride, as if we must rely upon distant entities to define punk for us. As if we've created nothing worthy by comparison. Nothing could be further from the truth. With that in mind Capitol Guitars and TCSP have conceived that this PUNXFEST III, shall be, as is our dearly held hope, a reinstitution of scene wide, unified belief in and enthusiasm for the local scene and our own homegrown potential. We have done our very best to judiciously include the best of the local punk, hardcore (and sXe), psychobilly, oi, thrash, ska, and related subcultures to create a fest of inarguable diversity. Many of us remember a time when 200+ heads at any decent local show was a given, now we are lucky to break half that. Well, its time for a change. And the change starts with positive attitudes, good times, good bands, and a valiant effort. So here’s ours, the biggest fest we’ve ever done, and only for local music.Any ideas for additions to the vent in the way of time killers, games, etc. are welcome. As of right now it's just tons of bands, prizes, and Dunk-A-Punk. We will be making commemorative T-shirts this time around for cheap and free stickers as well.
