About Me
Misery formed in Minneapolis in 1987. It took a while to put a solid line up together. We had many different people come and go in the first few months, at one point we had two drummers and Dan, from Profane Existence, playing the bass on a three stringed electric guitar. Our first show was in December 1988 with Al Long ( ex Nausea and SIN) on vox, Christy Lovegren on vox, Gags On Bass, Jon on guitar, and Gary on drums. That show was also the beginning of Profane Existence, which started the show as a spoken word group, the show was a benefit for the ARC ( animal rights coalition).Soon after that show Christy left the band, it just wasn't what she wanted to do in life I guess. The next summer we made a trip to New York with our good friend Sid from Portland OR, played some great shows, made some great friends that we still have today, and saw the beginning of the end of the Lower eastside squatters world. It was right around the time of the Tomkins Square Riots, and there was a lot of @ energy at the shows and in the park.It was a very inspiring little journey for our first time out of the midwest.Soon after we returned to Mpls, Al quit and went to sing with Amy in Nausea and Sid joined Misery. This has been the line up ever since, Gags- Bass and vox, Sid Guitar and vox, Jon Guitar and vox, and Gary Drums and vox. We started recording soon after we felt we had a solid line up and released our Born Fed Slaughtered 7" and Blindead 7" on our AYF label with the help of Krishna ( Felix of Havoc records). Our next 7" was Children of War on G.T.G.P records ( which became Relapse Records) then we did our first full length Production thru Destruction on a french label that sold us out to Revolver Cartel. We learned a bit about trust and the music industry on that little fiasco.Bastards! Don't trust anyone that you don't know.We have quite a few more releases, but too many to mention on this shit site, if you're really interested, look up our web site, it has them all.
1995 we saw the release of our second LP and a tour of Europe with our ,soon to be great friends, Extinction of Mankind. The LP was on PE and Skuld records and Dan PE pretty much pushed us into this tour. We couldn't thank him enough or Kliester or Musgub. It was a great experience for us besides the fact that we could only get off work in the middle of winter to do it.This spawned the EOM/ Misery split LP CD which ended up being on Elderberry (Sweden), CAH (usa) and Sin Fronteras (usa). EOM and Misery have since toured together a few times in the States and Canada and hope to do it again in the future. As of late we have been working on a new LP in our basement studio. It will be released on Crimes Against Humanity and will be out whenever it is done.
