When Mariposa (aka MC Patria) meets Ezekial Matthews (MC EZ) they quickly become best friends; together they have the best summer tossing lyrics and rhymes. After the summer ends, Mariposa realizes the only thing she really cares about besides becoming the best emcee around is getting Ezekial to love her. Unfortunately, this realization comes at the same time Ezekial gets a girlfriend Jennifer Hoffman, an emcee with a huge buzz. When her school announces a talent show, Mariposa understands that this could be her last chance to impress Ezekial. She decides to form a hip-hop crew enter the world of the Sista Hood MC Patria, Soul Siren, Pinay-1 and DJ Esa, all divas in their own way. While coming together isnt easy, theyre forced to collaborate and the course of their lives is changed forever.

ELISHA MIRANDA is a Puerto Rican that was born and raised in the "Mission" district of San Francisco, California and has been residing in New York City since 1998. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a dual BA in Ethnic Studies and English. Prior to heading to NYC she had been an activist and educator around numerous issues effecting youth and the community. She received her MFA in film (directing and screenwriting) from Columbia University. At Columbia, her awarding winning short films€” CORPORATE DAWGZ and BLIND DATE screened and garnered awards both nationally and internationally. Currently, she is in development with her feature film OUTSIDE THE WALL and a television pilot she is co-writing for the "N". She is also working on her next novel which will be called LOVELINES. Today she claims the titles of Filmmaker, Writer and Activist and claims all three as her sacred trinity.

My Interests

I love to blast my music and pretend to be a b-girl when I'm alone. Laughing loudly and frequently feeds my soul. I enjoy making and receiving mixed tapes. Chunky Monkey Ice Cream and Puerto Rican Pasteles are my favorite eats, but not together. Traveling to new places makes me feel free. I love the water and ldiving. Commited to bringing hip hop back to her roots.
