I'm an Ivy League homegirl. A hip hop intellectual. A gal from the hood who's done good and give backs. A cultural activist who works across entertainment media. A strident feminist who writes erotica and chick lit without regrets or apologies. A social entrepeneur and a socially conscious businesswoman. As a hip hop artist and activist, I'm on a mission to redefine the phrase, "Keepin' it real" because what's real needs to change. Under the pen name Black Artemis, I wrote the hip hop novels EXPLICIT CONTENT and PICTURE ME ROLLIN'. EXPLICIT CONTENT is probably the first work of fiction to explore the trials and tribulations of female MCS in the record industry. PICTURE ME ROLLIN' is about a young woman -- and Tupac fanatic -- who tries to rebuild her and find self-love after a stint in prison. My 3rd hip hop joint is called BURN and follows a female bond agent as she searches for a missing graffiti artist.Under my real name I also write chica lit and erotica. My first novel as Sofia Quintero is called DIVAS DON'T YIELD. Will you like DIVAS? If you're a fan of books like DIRTY GIRLS SOCIAL CLUB, BLING, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, WAITING TO EXHALE, and GOOD IN BED, you might like DIVAS and other stories I publish under my real name. Have doubts about chica lit. Give it a shot by checking out a few anthologies. You can't go wrong with FRIDAY NIGHT CHICAS and NAMES I CALL MY SISTER. Along with novellas by me, you'll find fun stories by veteran authors Mary Castillo, Caridad Pineiro, Berta Platas, Lynda Sandoval. You can see all the covers of my books under my pics and find excerpts in my blog.

I'd like to meet:

I'd love to hear from fans of my novels as well as other avid readers of quality urban fiction and chick lit with depth. And if you're disappointed in the current state of hip hop but refuse to give up on it, holla. If you're a man or woman who is not afraid to call yourself a feminist -- that's right I said the f-word -- you've got a sister in me.Get Your Own Voice Player Manage
