About Me

Jasmine Colon is a Puerto Rican lesbian born and raised in the boogie down Bronx by her parents. At an early age she developed a passion for creating films that educated and at the same time entertained the audience. In 1992, when her mother Miriam Soto was diagnosed with an uncurable disease known as Scleroderma, she began to take more interest in pursing a career in the Arts. In 2003, she graduated from Borough of Manhattan Community College with an A.A.S degree in Corporate Communications. After graduating Jasmine decided to attend City College to obtain her B.A in Film/Video Production and started “A Struggle” which is a work-in progress documentary about Scleroderma. She has written and directed three student shorts while attending City College. In 2005 she collaborated with Chica Luna Productions Inc, after taking a screenwriting course at City College with Elisha Miranda Co-founder of the organization. Miss colon has also worked with the Queen Museum of Art in a program called The Leadership Through the Arts as a Video Production Facilitator. As a facilitator she taught students 16yrs and over the fundamental elements of pre-production, production and post-production documentary filmmaking and how to use video as a tool to develop community resources. She has also interned as an Assistant Editor for Swandive Films with Marta Masferra and NYCTV cutting rough assemblies of 7 short segment shows for a show called NY 360 that appeared on NBC in 2006. Miss colon is currently working at Sister Outsider Entertainment which was also co-founded by Elisha Miranda and her co-partner Sofia Quintero. Sister Outsider seeks to create edgy popular film for the urban population. She is currently the producer and editor of an upcoming satire comedic film entitled Latinowood and is also the Project Assistant Manager for an LBGT theater project entitled JOTARIA, which is a multi-media, hip-hop cabaret project that combines film, music and theater to present a variety of diverse LGBTQT issues. fantasy layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com MyHotComments
