The Redi Nights showcase event has been running since July 2002. The original aim was to bring North Wales bands together in a party atmosphere to strengthen the music scene and to encourage new bands to join the party. Promoters had tried before to create a scene in North Wales without success. The main difference with The Redi Nights is that it does not try to represent a specific style of music; it concentrated on the diversity of what was going on musically in North Wales.
The Redi Nights started at a time when Wrexham and North Wales was in need of a something to do, somewhere to go and somewhere for unsigned Welsh bands to play. Four years later the music scene is strong especially in Wrexham. Since the entertainment liscence changes in November 2005 there are gigs on every day and more bands and DJs making names for themselves than ever before. The Redi Nights has survived this long by promoting the best unsigned bands and DJs and showing the diversity of what is going on musically in Wales. The Redi Nights have evolved from it's original concept initially by inviting bands from South Wales and then again by inviting bands from as far as Liverpool, Manchester, London, Scotland, Ireland and America. The Redi Nights events are well known to bands across the UK and have become a regular stop on many bands touring circuit.
The Redi Nights quickly gained strong audiences through bands such as Camera, Cream Tangerine, Crosbi and Mooi bringing their audiences together with live visuals by AVIT and DJ sets by resident DJ Jamie Barlow from The Drumlake Experiment. So the party was set and the audience took it on as their own and gave the event soul making it feel more like a house party than a club night.
The Redi Nights has helped promote over fifty unsigned Welsh bands and has had the pleasure of hosting a few signed acts along the way. With new unsigned bands playing every month The Redi Nights has proved itself to have an important role promoting new music.
The success of The Redi nights led to the creation of The Redi Daze an all day music event at Bellevue Park, Wrexham in June 2003 featuring showcase sets from the best bands to have played The Redi Nights. The proceeds from the event were donated to Hope House the hospice for life-limited children. The after show party featured some of Wrexhams most talented underground DJs and spawned The Deck Side the showcase event for alternative DJs. The outlet for these DJs before this event were always outside of North Wales or at private parties. The events have similar audiences and party vibe and have proved the ability for artists to cross over genre barriers.
The Redi Daze returned bigger and better in the Summer of 2004 and became a two day festival featuring showcase sets from the best bands to have played The Redi Nights that year. The Deckside DJs were also out in force over the weekend helping to raise funds for Hope House. To see photos of the 2006 Redi Daze please visit the reviews page.
The Redi Nights and The Redi Sessions have established themselves as the leading showcase events for unsigned bands in Wales. This can be attributed mainly to the hard work from all the Wrexham based bands and their ability to work togrther and make things happen.
The Redi Nights is always on the lookout for new talent with their own material. The events promote new bands and DJs every month these artists are then helped to progress to the headlining slots. Along the way these artists get to play with many different line ups to help strengthen the vibe between the artists and the auidience. This website has been set up to help promote all the bands & DJs, their activities and their music.
