Doc - The Indifference Engine

I Am Become Deaf, Destroyer of Words

About Me

*My name is Rich but most of my friends call me "Doc".
*I build all the wacky stuff at www.Datamancer.net
*If you wish to know about me, I suggest you go listen to the Tom Waits song, What's He Building? I'm that guy.
*I guess if I was forced to describe myself, I'd say I'm half Mad Scientist, half Arteest, and half Technophilic Wackadoo. You might say "that's a lot of halves". Then I might say..."well the joke's on you, MathBoy!...I pooped in your shoes."
*I've been called a Jackass of all Trades, a Renaissance Manic, a happy-go-lucky scamp, a tipsy gypsy, a "lean and hungry hacker", 3-time national wind-up plastic sushi racing champ....
*I give awesome presents and good back rubs at random....
*For some reason, almost all animals love me...we seem to have a pretty good understanding of eachother....
*I'm usually lost in a tangle of wires, tools and gadgets....
*I molt crumpled notebooks full of indecipherable coded jibberish....
*I'm a sarcastic wise-ass....
*I have good friends and will kill for them....
*I have good friends and they will kill for me....
*I'm descended from gypsies and engineers, fitting I suppose, seeing as how I both steal things to build stuff, and build stuff to steal things....
*This is Rondel, my 64 Caddy,
Some of my asinine contraptions
Papa Legba - 1956 Ford F-100 Custom Cab
*I'm extraordinarily agile and dextrous, I can do crazy kicks, flips, juggle, throw knives, walk ropes, all that shit....
*I feel like a tool for having a really long myspace profile....
*I expect way too much competance from the average person....
*I make authorities uneasy....
*I write very disjointed profiles, apparently....
*I'm a total word nerd. I deconstruct language like a puzzle and carry an etymological dictionary with me most places.
*I'm really pushing to get 'quance' and "quince" (once, twice, thrice, quance, quince) acknowledged as geniune words...it just makes sense.
*It irritates the bejeezus out of me when people use the improper form of thier, there or they're
*I'm very open-minded and easy-going, but fanatically anal about a select few (mostly irrelevant) things,
*I have very few personal human idols...Instead, I idolize fictional characters who were created to idealize the qualities humans would have if they all didnt suck so much....
*I'm one of the few people you'll ever meet who actually has an Honor Code, and lives by it, regardless of who understands it or knows why I do the things I do..I have made accomodations and sacrifices for people that they will never even know about and most likely didnt even deserve, but at the end of the day, life was made better, and thats all that really matters....
*I like Pocky....
*Most people that know me well have pointed out that I basically seem to be slowly mutating into Batman....
*I'm very elusive and reclusive. I keep 99% of the world at a carefully maintained arm's-length....
*I'm an Indifference Engine....
*I'm particularly fond of the word "brandish", especially in regards to a "pistol" or better yet, a "pistola"....
*I am half Hungaro-Rumanian gypsy. I always just thought that my last name just meant 'big' or 'large' in Hungarian, but I recently found out that it's a bit more abstracted and translates closer to "great", or when applied as a surname, "The Great"....so im 'Richard The Great' now....how cool is that?
*I build wacky shit like its my job...and one day...it will be
*You can see some of my asinine, pointless projects at
AOL Instant Messenger: 'CrackRockSteady', 'AmishRakeWarrior', or 'Gypsy Glyph'...one of those names is usually .., but doesnt necessarily mean I am too...leave a message. *I've also just recently created a myspace group for all my conflaptions and gadgets...go join up! DATAMANCER'S LAB
