About Me

Philadelphia is the least attractive city in the U.S.

That's the conclusion of a recent Travel & Leisure survey that found Philadelphians to be among the nation's most unhealthy, unfriendly, unclean, un-stylish and uneducated people. (Have the readers of Travel & Leisure have ever been to Dallas?) Instead of refuting the survey, we suggest Philly embrace its nastier side, and one way is to highlight the hard-edged punk of native sons BIG Attack! Lead singer Russell Golden snarls out political lyrics at the speed of Joe Strummer as the band shoots out fierce three-chord rock. Danbury's own mistress of indie rock Sarianna Sabbarese said Golden's songs are "so strangely melodic that you'll find yourself pumping your fists and singing along every time." He'd be Philadelphia poet laureate if Mayor John Street had the balls to capitalize on his city's grittiness.
