Living life with GREAT EXPECTATION!Let me share this story with you. As a kid I spoke really fast. When I say fast, I could've easily been on the platform as an auctioneer. There were times I'd imitate them. It would take at least 5 minutes for me to return to my regular rate.I have this aunt who would always make a big production of the rate of my speaking. It really angered me. She made me feel *abnormal* as if some thing was "wrong" with me. My thought was that if people didn't understand me it was because they weren't listening. My grandmother never told me to slow down. Now, my mother asked me several times when I was overly excited about something. One time was when I was being attacked by a bird. I can laugh now, but I had no business in that tree near her baby birds.Thinking back on that period in my life, I can see how much I've stretched and evolved. The one thing that hasn't changed is my belief in taking the time to listen. This is something my grandmother taught me, just by me being in her presence.Take time to listen to yourself, your surroundings and to the ones you love. Listening has been so underrated that its value has been lost in the shuffle. Yeah, I still sometimes speak fast today. And today, I know I have to meet the eye of those who lack the ability to listen just as my grandmother did whenever we were together. But I do recognize no matter the rate of speed of my speaking or in life, there will be people wanting you to conform to them, which may be their unknown way of holding you back.So feel free to ask me to slow down. ;o) But first take a moment and think, 'Am I really listening?'At the beautiful age of 35, I accept all my life learnt lessons. As my mother says to me all the time, 'Girl, you remember everything.' I do! I value my experiences and I've learned from each and everyone of them. Collect your gifts, your dreams, your lessons and experiences -allow them to birth in you, your determination, your drive and your passion to take action. It's your birthday too!And we're celebrating you, me and this day because it's filled with great expectation!Make this the Best day Ever!
