Julian Sage's Myspace
I want to tell you about a great kid I discovered recently on David's Myspace. His name is Julian Sage and you won't believe how talented he is.
What Julian does isn't easy and he really makes it appear as though it is. When you take into account how great Luciano Pavarotti was and listen to Julian, you will see a boy who might be as great one day as Pavarotti himself. He certainly has a very big head start at such a young age.
I want you to see and hear Julian sing a song that was Pavarotti's signature song but before you watch the video below, watch Pavarotti first and his great performance and then you will be in awe by what you are about to see in a special performance.
Julian Sage is an amazing performer. I love opera and this kid can really sing it. WOW!!! I found out about him recently because he is one of David Archuleta's friends on his profile.
Take my word, Julian is that great. I'm a big opera fan and I know the songs he sings. Check out the video below and then click onto Julian's Myspace profile.

THE WILD CHILD (François Truffaut) L'enfant sauvage
THE 400 BLOWS Quatre cents coups, Les (1959)
François Truffaut's MYSPACE
François Truffaut made some wonderful films and is truly a genius, just like my favorite actor Charlie Chaplin is. I watched one of his classics yesterday too.
Here's a clip from that film. "Modern Times"
Is that really Chaplin singing?
Find out more information about this song from Modern Times (Titine) and be sure to watch the clip of Chaplin peforming "Titine" which I have linked above as a video.

The last scene from the film "Modern Times" with the song "Smile" playing. A musical compostition that Chaplin wrote for the film, which was recorded as a vocal by Nat King Cole.
..
Smile was the theme music for Charlie Chaplin‘s final silent picture Modern Times in 1936. In 1954, John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added lyrics to Charlie Chaplin’s music, and it become a popular hit when Nat ‘King’ Cole recorded it.
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
..
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Charlie the world lost you 30 years ago this Christmas. I was 14 years old on that day in 1977 when you departed the world.
I have grown to love your work since and you are my favorite actor.
This Christmas I'm especially thinking of you and thank you for all the wonderful memories you left behind that have been so joyful to people like myself.
My favorite actor of all time is
Charlie Chaplin. I can watch anything he made. My favorite of all his films is "City Lights". It's an amazing film.
Although Chaplin made silent films for the most part, he was years ahead of his time and set the standards for great film making. "City Lights" is about a tramp who helps a blind flower girl regain her vision. The friendship that develops between them shows that two people can care for each other despite the obstacles and barriers. The flower girl who he runs into one day never sees him until she gains her sight back and then realizes that he is not the rich man she envisioned in her mind. It is simply a great film and one you should watch if it plays on television or rent at your local video store.
Besides being a gifted actor, producer and director, Charles Chaplin also wrote music to his films like "Smile".
I like Silent Films a lot and besides Charlie Chaplin I also like Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. It's a great art form to discover and there are many treasures that are still out there that are worth discovering and seeing.
Probably my all time favorite film is "The Sound of Music". I can watch that one every time it comes on television.
I also like "The Cure" with Joseph Mazzello and Brad Renfro.
I've moved the rest of my tribute to Brad Renfro to my blog. You can find much more on Brad there, so check it out.
Books:
"Running with Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs
"The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold
The two books I have listed above were amazing books. I really recommend them highly. "Running with Scissors" is about a gay boy growning up and is based on the author's childhood experiences.
Augusten Burroughs says the story is true despite how weird and unbelievable his writings may be. Many people think he made many of the things in the book up. You be the judge. Regardless, this is a fun and enjoyable book.

Heroes:
When I was younger I spent many of my school summer vacations raising money for Muscular Dystrophy, a cause which means a great deal to me. After I graduated high school, I volunteered my Labor Day's each year working on the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
Therefore, Jerry Lewis is my idol. Not only is he a gifted actor and comedian, but he is also a great humanitarian who has devoted years of his time to fight MD. I use to volunteer my Labor Days working on the telethon each year from the New York City studios, for the local portions of this fundraiser.
You can learn more about Muscular Dystrophy by going to this link:

Billy Gilman's Official Myspace Page
On that link you will also find two other heroes of mine:
The first person is Billy Gilman.
Billy is a wonderful young performer known for singing country music. One day he appeared on "Larry King Live" and met the next heroe of mine named Mattie Stepanek, who happened to be booked on that same program with him.
It was only natural that they would not only become friends but also team up in raising money for Muscular Dystrophy.
Mattie Stepanek was a brilliant young poet and inspired millions as a poster boy for MDA. He was instrumental in asking that Billy become National Youth Ambassador for Muscular Dystrophy. Billy Gilman recorded a cd that featured song lyrics based on Mattie's poetry. That cd was called "Music Through Heartsongs", which was Billy's fourth cd.Not only was Mattie Stepanek a poet but he was a peace maker as well and his dream was for world peace. September 11th affected him just like everyone else and Mattie wrote about that subject as well as his ups and downs with his illness.
His heroes were Jerry Lewis and nothing gave Mattie more pleasure than appearing on the telethon with his idol and being honored as poster boy.
Another hereo of Mattie's is former President Jimmy Carter. Mattie passed away a few years ago at the age of 13. Many people were affected by his brief life. Oprah Winfrey and his friend Jimmy Carter spoke at Mattie's funeral.
You can find both of them on the MDA website posted above.
