Rachael from Penistone in South Yorkshire has been performing from an early age and graduated with a degree in folk and traditional music from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2005. Rachael plays cello, fiddle and sings and is also a prizewinning Irish step dancer.
Rachael is a member of 11-piece English folk band Bellowhead, winners of 'Best Live Act, BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2005, 2007 & 2008 and Best Group 2007. Bellowhead have received huge public and critical acclaim and released their debut album 'Burlesque' in 2006.

Rachael was also a member of five-piece band CrossCurrent who released their debut album momentum in 2005. The band split in 2007 to work on different projects. Rachael is a regular tutor on the Tender Roots Project, working with young folk musicians in Yorkshire as well as running workshops and teaching traditional music, song and dance in schools and for Folkworks. Rachael has also been busy this year playing with Beccy Owen a fantastic singer living in Newcastle and with concertina wizard Alistair Anderson.
