About Me

Dear you,
Hello! Here is an update about some of my current musical happenings. It's been a while since I emailed. Do forgive my silence. I have been busy - promise! I have weaned myself off crisps and other salt-based snacks and everything and am revving my engines for a busy second half to the year. I've also been writing lots of new songs and poems and things lately and have finished all the recording for the new album, as well as aiming to play more live shows over the next few months - I've missed it but needed a little rest to get my head out my arse.
See below for a little info about the new record and a forthcoming gig.
Hope all is well with you and thanks for reading.
Lots of love
Beccy

Album UpdateThe day is almost here! Beccy Owen's third album 'Down With Gravity' is in the mastering stage and will be released very soon. We're just in the final push to tie it all up and make it look pretty and VOILA! (sp?) labour pains forgotten, brand new little record screaming out for you to give it a cuddle....with your ears....or something!
Produced by Joe Rusby, 'Down With Gravity' features guest appearances from the wonderful Kate Rusby and Richard Dawson, as well as beautiful arrangements from Adam Kent and muchas more.
We are hoping that you will be able to pre-order the album exclusively from www.beccyowen.com in the near future and will keep you posted on all things Beccy in the meantime via the medium of (VERY OCCASSIONAL - WE KNOW YOU'RE BUSY PEOPLE) email. A new website is also in the making to accompany the new record. However, www.myspace.com/beccyowen is still rollin' along so get on board, get in touch, and get listening to some sneak previews as we leak more new material over the coming weeks.

Beccy Owen at the Carling Academy, Newcastle, Sat 21st June
Beccy will also be making a special live solo appearance in support of her friends The Mosaics (www.themosaics.net). Get your tickets exclusively from Fairy Snuff Records for a special discounted price of £4. Please email us direct at [email protected] for more information about how to order and get tickets delivered to your door (free P &P). See below for times and dates).
That's all for now - thanks!
The details are:
THE MOSAICS PRESENT presents Mosaics with support from Beccy Owen at Carling Academy Newcastle,
------------------------------------------------------ New website and album in the pipeline! Coohoo!
If you want to get hold of any of the other records whilst the website gets lushed up, by heck I'd like you for it...I really would. Not in a mercenary way, honest, but in a 'awh, you bought my record wow! ' kinda way...anyway. If you want to get a copy of The Singer Kicks I've got a few boxes left here so please message me using this site. Sweetest of Tales is currently out of print. Soz. I thank you. x
------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Me me I I me.I'm a full-time musician and writer based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England and I'm still working out this my space thing so bear with me whilst I find a sec, put down my melodica and search for an appropriate, none-pretentious, truthful and perhaps even enamouring way of describing myself that may make you interested in being a friend, hearing my songs, coming to a gig, buying a CD, etc...I like riding my bike, spilling my guts, making pictures with words and tunes, intelligent conversation, making new friends, watching good films, sponsoring orangutans, guzzling peppermint tea (I find all other herbal teas insipid), dancing with cocker spaniels and playing scrabble with my mum.Soon there will be a new album and a new www.beccyowen.com with more info, media, pics, news, blogs and interactive shenanigans. Betcha can't wait!x

'A delinquent Carole King'
(NME)

'Fresh from sharing session time with Elvis Costello on BBC2's Janice Long show, this, the second album from the Newcastle-based songstress, should by rights result in the installation of Beccy as the new queen of bleary-eyed ivory tinkling heartbreak. Imagine Carole King singing odes to lost love after four pints of Special Brew, or Nina Simone skinning up the wings of crushed butterflies - Owen is a fallen, aggrieved dark angel, and a very, very special talent.'
(Music Week)

'Are you a pop star? I didn't think so cos me grandad's never heard of yuz'
