“His inventive finger-picking and slide guitar work underlines a quality of musicianship others can only hope to aspire to, and his breed of blues folk must be seen to be truly appreciatedâ€. Plug, Sheffield.
Richard Kitson is a folk/blues singer from Barnsley and has a great guitar style that works on Jesse Fuller style songs like “Redundant Blues†and the more traditional Mississippi style of “Waited So Longâ€. A great combination of blues guitar and harmonica, which finished with a Rory Gallagher cover, “Pistol Slapper Bluesâ€. I listened to a CD of his as I was writing this column and recommend that you do the same by going to www.myspace.com/richardkitson.
Review of a recent gig at The Halfmoon, Putney, London by Peter Coulston of www.seatwave.com
Richard is an engaging performer who the audience quickly warms to, greatly appreciating his inventive and talented finger picking and slide guitar playing.

...his influences are as diverse as the recognised compass points of; Dylan, Lennon and Cash to Blues legends such as Big Bill Broonzy, Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters...
Noggin, Blues Matters Magazine, aug/sept issue
"Richard Kitson is fantastic"
Toby Potter, Sandman Magazine
The lyrics to his songs often use some quite different imagery than the norm...very refreshing to these jaded ears that have heard "There's a Red House..." more times than is good for ones health!..>
