Touching the Untouchable, Reaching the Unreachable

About Me

I was born and raised in Downriver Detroit, Michigan. In 1996 I married the love of my life, Lisa. About 6 months after we were married we moved to Nashville.
I get bored with my appearance on a weekly basis and usually do something to change it...thus the different looks in my pics and the occasional tattoo addition
I grew up in a home where my dad would ask each new friend that I brought to the house, Boy or Girl, to pull his finger...Dad was not one to bluff, so the friends who fell for his lame attempt at embarrassing his son and laughed at his production got his approval, and the ones who cried...Well, they usually didn't come back for a second pull...HA!(for those of you who know me, that story should reveal volumes to you)
I am an Ordained Minister of 11 years with a bit of a different perspective considering the fact that I have tattoo's and piercings. My personal mission statement is to Touch the Untouchable and Reach the Unreachable...this statement is not intended to label anyone per se' only to acknowledge that there are many in the church world who are not willing to reach or acknowledge those who do not fit within the parameters of their comfort zone...I, on the other hand, tend to be drawn to the people who some christian's may have difficulty identifying with. I am repeatedly asked what my background is...
I am absolutely a Christian! I do not consider myself religious and obstinately buck the whole legalism thing...I have been a Youth Pastor, an Associate Pastor, a traveling Evangelist, and a street Evangelist at different periods in my life. I have fed the homeless, worked with inner-city youth, ministered to Gang Members and Drug Addicts, ministered in other countries, and am again currently pursuing an evangelistic ministry both state side and abroad (feel free to contact me to arrange speaking engagements)
I am the author of a book released last year, covered and titled two different ways to reach different demographics, they are 'The Spirit of Religion' and 'Love Thy Neighbor...? When a Spirit of Religion Opposes the Heart of God'.
I am presently working on my next book which will probably be released in the winter of 2006/spring of 2007. I have elaborated more on my books toward the bottom of this page under the topic of books. I realize that my life would appear to many to be a bit of a dichotomy... but I am what I am.
I am Semi-musically inclined (I would not call myself a musician) but I play a little Drums /Bass /Guitar /Piano/ and Sing. I am a pretty well centered guy who tends to be very analytical. I love to laugh and joke around. My sense of humor is a little warped and sometimes people think it is kind of strange...I find humor and depth in many things that most tend to miss. However, this side of my personality gives my ability to make people laugh from the pulpit a bit of an edge...I love people and I love to make them laugh...I read in a really reputable book that laughter does a person good...LIKE MEDICINE!!!...(either you know the book quote or you don't...bygones)I have to say I do have one MAJOR prejudice...Ohio State ANYTHING!!! If you are a Christian Ohio State Fan (Which I am not entirely sure is even possible) all I have to say is...GO BLUE!!!

I will pray that you will be delivered from the deception of the Dark Side...HA!!! Bygones...
Often, I am the only one laughing at my jokes, so I guess that makes me a bit lame...but I absolutely love life and refuse to take myself or my life too seriously...that's not to say that I don't have a serious side, but I THINK I am pretty balanced. I find it humerous to observe those who think TOO HIGHLY of themselves and carry themselves as though they are somehow superior to those they are around...People are people... I am not the type of person who gets starstruck or overly impressed with someone's reputation...famous people are just people with cool jobs!
If there is an emergency or something dangerous is going down I am a 'run to' instead of a 'run away' person. I would absolutely risk my life to save someone elses and have on occasion...Just your typical nice guy who finishes first (not arrogance... confidence with a hint of faith speak).
I love my wife, my family, and my friends. I LIVE LIFE...I REFUSE TO JUST EXIST...when this earth suit quits working I will know without a doubt that I used it to LIVE LIFE...I love diversity (see my friends list). I HATE TO SHOP but love malls and airports because it is a place where you can sit back and observe/admire/appreciate/and sometimes chuckle at how differently God has created each one of us...I honestly believe that there is something exceptional about everyone if you are willing to take the time to find it...
I am daily amused as I surf this wave of myspace and read some of the 'tough guy' profiles where I find my well being threatened by the myspace punisher's who write that they are really tough and if I cross them they will rip my arms off and beat me with the wet ends...(freakin rediculous!!!)HA!!!...I'm not some kind of Panzee but I also don't take pride in my temperment and do my best to control it. I guess I just don't feel the need to prove anything or front as some kind of tough guy to make myself feel good about me or to try to impress someone else...(note to all the tough guys)Maybe strength is more in what you don't say than what you do...Bygones...
I prefer to see the cup half full, trying to always see the best in situations...In reality, I've seen gruesome tragedy with my own eyes, I've watched people die, I've seen horrible poverty, I've had to observe the horrific things that people have done to children, and I've had to walk through more blood than I care to remember...although my experiences would probably jade most people negatively, this perspective keeps me constantly reminded of how good that I really have it. It is my perception that Life, for most of us, is not nearly as bad as we think it is...My present blogs go deeper into who I am if you are interested...If you are curious about Aaron Davis Ministries, You can also click on this link which will take you to my website WWW.AARONDAVISMINISTRIES.COM . I have included pictures of my books beneath this text and the intro to the books in one of my blogs...if you are interested in them you can order them at any book retailer in store or online.

Books:

The Spirit of Religion (Aaron D. Davis) and Love Thy Neighbor ...When a Spirit of Religion Opposes the Heart of God (Aaron D. Davis). This is actually the same book covered two different ways...
I began writing a few years ago out of frustration with those who call themselves christians but seem to be more interested in their religion (or set of rules/regulations and making sure that YOU abide by THEIR convictions) than a relationship with God. Nearly everyone that I spoke with in Tattoo Shops and places that I hung out kept telling me that they were interested in church/Christianity, but never felt like the church was interested in them...Most said that they had some sort of bad experience in a church where they were prejudged or unaccepted by Christians and as a result simply avoided Christians because they, for the most part, were rejected by them...
As a Tattooed Christian this behavior from other christians really bothered me so I began to vent by writing...After a while it became a book...This book addresses many inconsistencies between how many Christians treat people and what the bible REALLY SAYS about the issues that they tend to make such a big deal about. Tattoo's, Piercing's, Judgment, and many other issues are addressed in these books...
I have had a terriffic response from those who have read these books, especially from those who do not consider themselves christians but are interested in what it really means to be a Christian from a biblical perspective...Needless to say, not all who call themselves christians follow biblical example...So I wrote a book for those who are interested in knowing what the bible says about the issues that they may be facing...
I designed all of the cover art although you would probably have to blow up the pics or get the books to see the detail, specifically on The Spirit of Religion's cover...Both books reflect a different side of my personality...There is a lot of unseen detail on the Spirit of Religion's cover. The Love Thy Neighbor...? cover reflects my sense of humor...
I laughed so hard as I considered the concept of Mr/Mrs. Jane Doe Church goer hearing a knock on their door and looking through their peep hole only to see my dad (their neighbor) on the other side...It begs the question of whether or not they would be willing to Love Thy Neighbor enough to open the door or accept someone like him as he is...
Both covers are confrontational which reflects the nature of the books...I had a lot of fun writing them and it actually allowed me to recognize and address some of my own hang ups/prejudices. I discovered for one that I was as prejudice toward overly religious people as they were me or those like me...that was a bit of a paradigm shift for me. There I was pointing out their hypocrisy and was doing the same thing on the reciprical...
I have posted the introduction and table of contents for these books in a blog above...anywho, I guess I am done for now...maybe more later...check out the blogs

Heroes:

The Greatest guy in the world...My Father (PASTOR DAD!!!)...Here's a picture of him...He's also on the cover of one of my books...He's a freak and I love him for it!

THANKS FOR THE GUIDANCE- by aaron d. davis

"Christian man" to the common man means self appointed judge

And then you wonder why it is that from my sin I will not budge.

If becoming a Christian means I'll be like you then I will never be

Your lack of love and attitude frankly sickens me

I would like to thank you personally for the example you have been

Who knows what I would have become if, like you, "I turned from sin"

Without your judging attitude and the arrogance you have shown

It would have been more difficult to decide on hell as home…

Thanks for the guidance…

Sincerely,

The one you call "lost"
