One of my biggest heroes and sports is John Smoltz. Courtesy of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and YouTube , Smoltz talks about how important it is to have strong leadership skills on--and off--the playing field. I love the intensity, competitiveness, and tenacity that Smoltzie brings to the pitching mound every fifth day. However, those qualities on the field are birthed through the integrity that John carries through his personal relationship with Jesus Christ...and I love him even MORE for that than anything he's done on the mound! Check out our fellow brother in Christ and BE BLESSED!
WOW...what an golden oldie from the legendary "First Lady of Gospel" Tramaine Hawkins. This is her music video for "In The Morning Time" from her mid-1980's release "The Search Is Over". YouTube has come through yet again! BTW, Tramaine's new release "I Never Lost My Praise" (that could be a sermon in itself) is now in stores...her first new work since 2001's "Still Tramaine". I CANNOT WAIT!Smoltzie and fellow Brave Jeff Francoeur were interviewed at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, GA back on November 16, 2006 at a FCA rally. These two beloved Bravos discussed their personal testimonies, big league life, childhood, and much more. IMPORTANT NOTE: This YouTube video is FORTY-FIVE minutes in length, but it is worth every second of viewing. It's so awesome to have men of God like these playing for MY team! Say what you will about the recent headlines surrounding Smoltz's impending divorce from his wife of 16 years. To me, it doesn't diminish the heart he has for the Lord. All we can really do is just pray for and encourage John in the Lord...and do the same for Jeff too.Since some of the videos I had on here no longer exist on YouTube , I managed to find another Karen Clark-Sheard performance of "Balm in Gilead". This one takes a bit more of a smoother take on the song and features an apperance by gospel star (and Karen's cousin) J. Moss. While it sucks that the video's quality starts to mess up at one of the performance's highlights, it can't take away from the overall blessing of hearing Karen minister in song.As we approach Easter, I decided to put up this performance by Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams from "The Tonight Show" a few years back. The name of the song is "How Many Lashes" , which was featured on "The Passion of the Christ: Songs (Original Songs Inspired by the Film)" soundtrack that came out around the time of this powerful movie. This song is one of MANY reminders of the REAL reason for this glorious season! THANK YOU JESUS!
