Hubert Sumlin

Blues Legend

About Me

Hubert Sumlin is a blues guitar legend. He has influenced the playing of Jimi Hendrix, d. boon, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jack White, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, Joe Walsh, Keith Richards, Stephen Stills, Robby Krieger, Ace Frehley, Ed O'Brien, John Fogerty and George Harrison to name but a few. Born November 16, 1931 in Greenwood, Mississippi Hubert was playing guitar by the time he was eight years old and by doing so changed the face of the blues, rock, punk and popular music for all time to come. Hubert has recorded and played live with such artists as the Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Levon Helm, Jimi Hendrix, Ringo Starr, Paul Oscher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, David Johansen, Steve Winwood, James Cotton and Buddy Guy...again, to name but a few. "Incurable Blues-The Troubles & Triumph of Blues Legend Hubert Sumlin" -by Will Romano is the title of Hubert's first and only authorized biography. The song up on this site is a Hubert Sumlin original from the Grammy Nominated album "About Them Shoes...". It features Hubert Sumlin on lead guitar and vocals, Keith Richards on rhythm guitar and Paul Nowinski on bass guitar.
