About Me

Just here to make connections with musicians for the various venues I book for...Was former band manager for Mac Arnold & Plate Full O'Blues..Mac was Muddy Water's bass player in the mid-late 60's. I also produced Greenville, SC's first blues festival April 07 where good friends Hubert Sumlin, Eddie Shaw & the Wolfgang Band, Bob Margolin, Willie Big Eyes Smith, Chuck Cotton, Mookie Brill, Dave Fields, David Hughes, and the Homemade Jamz Blues band all performed in our first festival, which was quite a success. I currently book for 20-30 different acts and bands, mostly due to the great spirit we share as kindred souls all there to help each other succeed in this world of blues. Bill Luckett, owner of Ground Zero is a friend of mine, a great man with great vision for the Delta region; Tommy Peters, owner of BBKings Blues Club Nashville-Memphis-Orlando also gave me a 'break' when I first started and let me send some of my favorite bands his way..and I have to mention Red of Red's Lounge..he always makes sure I get a smoked sausage or piece of chicken off the sidewalk grill whenever I'm in town(I THINK that's chicken, usually too dark in there to see, and you wouldn't dare ask)..gotta mention Gary Vincent--love him..great lover and producer of blues documentaries..and his wife Carol, well-known publicist, Pinetop Perkins--he think's I'm too skinny..James Butler, owner of Hopson Plantation--he makes sure I have a bottle of wine in the barn loft when I check in; and I have to mention my great friends Stan and Dixie Street--Stan's blues portraits and festival posters can't be beat...great people...and Roger Stolle of Catheads keeps us all on target for things to come. Willis Frazer-a true Mississippian, sweetheart and fellow banker buddy--thanks for hooking me up with all the great folks in Clarksdale; "Tater"--what can I say, if you don't know Tater, then you haven't been to 'the Delta'..And Lightnin Malcolm--your haunting style moves me, glad to have partied with you, T Model-love ya; Blind Mississippi Morris--that's a great red polyester suit you have on there; Super Chikan with your painted folk-art homemade guitars-I'll never forget the 'Shit-tar' toilet seat you made into a glitzy glittered up gadget, hittin some cool licks there on the front porch of Ground Zero while the tourists stood by in awe; Bill Abel--one of my favorite one-man bands...there's SO many I should mention--oh, and Bill Wax-couldn't have done it without you, thanks for surprising Drink Small that day he was here in my home, by playing his music on XM for me--Drink's slogan for the year: Staying Alive at 75-Still Going Strong Tour' .. Peter/BandVillage and Joe/Jay of Blues.Org--love you guys for everything...AND, Here in Greenville, SC you'll find me most nights reminiscing about and 'reenacting' the Delta feel at the clubs here that support blues: Brown St, Chicora Alley, Sticky Fingers Restaurant, Handlebar, and Bohemiam Cafe to name a few...and I'm excited to be working with Spartanburg SC's Shane Pruitt Band, check him out if you haven't already at www.myspace.com/shanepruitt. Also, Robin and Tony Rogers of Charlotte--the BEST female soul blues singer anywhere! Other than that, I'm usually somewhere eating sushi or scouting new bands--even if they pull me into some great southern rock or some great jazz standards...that's what's great about blues...it's the bridge that spans all genres and brings music lovers together. Can I get an 'Amen'?
