One thing that could be said about me is that I am creative. I enjoy writing and listening to music, but my heart is in my artwork.
For some time, I was creating purses and scarves. But, I really didn't enjoy knitting so much, and it is very hard to get into making those kinds of things.
After many years, I decided it was time to begin creating again. My children are grown up now, and I have more time to focus on art and painting.
The first time I picked up a paint brush was at the age of 10. I loved oil painting and drawing funny little faces. At that time, it was difficult to spend a lot of money on art materials. Although I am an only child, my parents were not into the arts and spending that kind of money was not important.
Then, I attended college after my divorce. Seems many people were in my situation being a single parent, and I decided it was important to make a living that I could give my children a fairly normal life.
Although my focus was on business, I also wanted to focus on art. I always enjoyed it, and now I could do something for myself as well as for my children. I took various classes and a wonderful class in oil painting.
It was an eye opening experience. I learned quite a bit from those classes, but I couldn't really do much as I had to work and take care of my girls who were 2 and 9.
Now, my girls are 22 and 32, and I have time to set aside for painting. During the last year, I took a few classes to brush up on my gift. I say it is a gift because anything that is creative is a gift from God.
This last year, I have managed to get into a few exhibits, and design my own art website Mary Dunn
Additionally, I have opened up my very own store God's Glory . One of the things that I enjoy about my store is that my creations are crafte on mugs, t-shirts, hats, and baby clothes. The second, is that half of my proceeds is donated to the Make a Wish Foundation. Here, I can help those who have one wish before they move beyond this life...give a gift to them to enjoy...something exciting that we might take for granted.
I have met quite a number of wonderful people here on MySpace. Some creative, some very nice, and some who have moved me in many ways. It is a lovely experience that I am forever grateful.
In conclusion, something that is interesting about me is one of the most exciting experiences of my life which occurred when I was in my mid-twenties. My oldest daughter and I went to Hawaii and while there, we met Tom Selleck. Because of that meeting, we both were on the episode of "The Jorroro Kill." If you blink your eyes, you just might miss us, but we are there.
