About Me
INTRODUCING THE NEW SINGLE - "PICTURE BOOK"
What If you could capture the tumultuous time between summer and winter
in a song?
Picture Book points at the diverse sonic wonderland of sounds and genres that lie within the forthcoming debut album from Rollerskates.
The song is an organic, lucid journey that sets the tone for the album. Its dark, thoughtful and fun all at once. It is Rollerskates, painting in sound!
Picture Book, follows in the footsteps of the first single release Gettit and is the second cut from the forthcoming album REKKID - Due out in Mid-2006.
It is an exercise in organic, experimental hip-hop and can be heard right here on Rollerskates Myspace (myspace.com/rollerskatesmusic).
Since their inception in 1998, Rollerskates have never been afraid of cutting edges and extending genre boundaries. This fiercely creative 5 piece from the furtile grounds of Australia's West Coast are purveyors of experimental hip-hop, organic rockn beats and sampletronic electro.
Let's take a look at the Rollerskates story, a myspace journey into the heart of Rollerskates...
The Rollerskates journey began in 1998 when Stevie C, Rufus and Jordy released an epic 20 track bedroom recording under the name Rollerskates, an absurd collection of samples and Casio keyboards. They then looked to recreating the sounds live and along with the talents of Moflo Leigh and Gabriel, Rollerskates was born.
Since then, Rollerskates have gone on to amass a large list of achievements, including:
Releasing 2 highly regarded and well received EP's, as well as 3 Singles to solid Australia-wide radio airplay:

02. THE MOVEMENT (EP - 2002)

In recent years, three members of Rollerskates (RUFUS - Bass / STEVIE C - Keyboards and GABRIEL - Drums) have gone on to mixing their time and talents with popular Perth act, The Panda Band.
In 2005, Rollerskates went underground to record their debut album, a textured and chaotic culmination of 7 years of experimentation. Due to be released in Mid-2006, the recordings have already spawned an underground hit in Gettit, with the next radio single Picture Book ready to roll.
The next phase of Rollerskates career is the rebirth a Beatles-esque transition from the profane to the sacred as can be heard in every moment of the forthcoming album.
