What they're saying about "This Vital Chapter"..
" This Vital Chapter is an adventure that shakes loose all stereotypes of indie pop with no real sudden moves to rebel against; simply speaking this is one damn fine album that any musician would be wildly proud to have been involved with. The Panda Band is one group that you never want to part with." - Smother.net
"The Panda Band have found a comfortable space between the trippy pop of say, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, and a folk-country sound that turns experimental at times."- Music Australia Guide.com rating: 8/10
"Part rock, part folk and part classic pop, its easy to see why theyre a Triple J staple. It really is a case of throwing up many, varied ideas and running with what sticks and where lesser bands would become overwhelmed, The Pandas make it work, and well." - OzOnline.com 4/5 stars
"The Panda Band are music hall troubadours – attracted to those Rainy Day Women and partial to Pet Sounds, there’s a sense of space on their debut album that you half expect from the latest Perth graduate, but the open ground has left them warm and dazzled by light as opposed to inhabiting the usual arid dreamscape. The sound is involved but never precious..." - MessandNoise.com
"In all, This Vital Chapter is a rewarding listen from tick to tick. Not the least bit skimpy on inventive songcraft and advertant one-upsmanship of the many weird-for-no-reason bands splashing around the pool right now, this record should surprise many despite its already heavy Aussie airplay."- OneTimesOne.com - 4/5 stars

Sounds Like: It sounds like our scoutmasters Nick Cave, The Beach Boys and Pink Floyd finally collaborating after all those dreams theyve had about each other. Giving each other confidence to lace up their hiking boots and hit some unfamiliar trails. What could these dreams mean?

Its choral beams, glorious exploding synthesizers and guitars, ricochets and rattles. It creeps up behind you and youve been talking to it for hours. Its tidal and vibrates through you like a sun-drunk full moon.
