About Me

Alrighty, as of Thursday March 01 2007, I am officially a long way away from here (here being Perth) and even though my mind has been long gone, my body will finally track it down somewhere between Los Angeles / Las Vegas / Austin / New York / Tampa Bay / Toronto / British Columbia / London / Paris / Avignon / Switzerland / Barcelona / French Riviera / Florence / Rome / Venice / Pag Island / Ljubljana / Austria / Prague / Berlin / Amsterdam / Manchester and God knows where else in between. I shall return once my mind and body are one again!
My name Ivan John Tolj, I’m 29 years old and reside in the wondrous Narnia-like enclave of Menora, wedged quite tightly amongst the more well known likes of North Perth, Coolbinia and Mt Lawley. Collectively they make up what I like to call the super-sexy triangle of a little place of 1.6 million people I like to call Perth, the capital of The People’s Democratic Republic of Western Australia.
When I’m not feeding Mr Myspace’s ego by filling in text boxes marked “About Me”, I work as a graphic designer and lend a helping hand running an independent record label / mini music empire called QStik. We look after some of Perth’s finest bands including The Panda Band, New Rules For Boats, Jeff Strong and Faith In Plastics. I also dabble in video production, having previously worked in film and television production. Every now and again you can hear me on the radio, co-hosting Homegrown on RTRFM 92.1, I also co-hosted Drivetime Monday for a good 10 months or so! When I’m not doing any of that, I’m probably trying to cure my insatiable appetite for wanderlust!! In other words I love to travel!!
Here’s just some of what I’ve been doing over the past 7 years or so:
As well as extensive experience in Graphic Design, I have also work in many areas of video, film and television production. Originally starting off as a freelance camera operator and sound recordist, I worked on a number of short films, tv commercials and television shows, most notably "The Gift" for Channel 9.
From their I moved into television, working for GWN in Bunbury for the best part of 2000, editing news stories and working on the production of the main news bulletin as a camera operator and floor manager.
Returning to Perth, I ended up getting into music video production where many of my video clips for bands such as Rollerskates, Astronaut and The Panda Band have aired on: ABC (Rage + Saturday Morning Fly), TEN (Video Hits), SBS, Channel [V], MTV Australia, Perth International Film Festival and Base TV.
