NOT INTO SMOKE & MIRRORS

About Me

Although Hannah is an accomplished songwriter in her own right her first love is singing. Instilling songs from all genres, new and old, with her own inimitable style. Her comparative youth belies the power and passion of her emotional vocabulary. Really spine tingling stuff! In her mid-teens Hannah formed a band with two friends. 'No Juliettes' toured in the Berkshire area and supported Thea Gilmore at her launch. No Juliettes recorded a self titled EP, a song from which was programmed on VRT World Service. The band split in 2000 as the members were dispersed to different universities.Hannah studied at Queen's Belfast where she joined a group of local musicians becoming a founder member of 'Amoruza' a folk rock band. Stevie McKnight the lead guitarist co-wrote 'Sunday Morning' and played guitar.Finals and home beckoned Hannah joined her parents who had by now moved to North Yorkshire, and unwittingly given her the new address. Here she joined forces with Redcar guitarist Phil Bailes. They tested their set out at Elgins before launching themselves on 1st February 2006 by appearing on BBC Radio Cleveland's 'Gobstopper' programme. All the subsequent gigging has meant Hannah's, 4 octave range, voice has gone from strenghth to strength and after much deliberation she has concluded that she has to be at the hub to further her career. To that end in October 2006 she moved to London, this does not mean that she is abandoning her friends up North as she will still be working with Phil - the internet is a wonderful thing- and all bookings will be honoured. Lets just say that London will now be the base from which to return after her frequent sojourns. Hannah has recently started working with the acclaimed Songwriter and Keyboard player Jamie Ambrose - their first set together was a stormer at Songbirds, Jan 2007. The piano accompaniment adding a new twist to old favourites. Their collaboration promises to be fruitful...........watch this space..........
