About Me

I am a singer/songwriter/accordion player based in South Wales. Although I've been playing the accordion for a good long time now, my background is in rock keyboards...I love using effects and my playing style is more rock than folk! I have played with the rocking folk band Pressgang for over 15 years and though we are geographicaly scattered now we still manage 10 or so gigs each year (to go to Pressgang MySpace see friends). I now live in Wales and play with Fiddlebox, a duo of myself and fiddle player Helen Adam, doing a mixture of traditional and written material in Welsh and English (see friends again!). The solo songs on this page were recorded by me as demos so you can't buy them...but you can download them! Happiness is a flanged accordion! Thanks to Dave Chivers for the main pic and Karl Walters for the spotlight pic.

Band Members: Me and my accordion, skip this bit unless you are an accordion nerd!!! Hi fellow nerds, I play a Beltrami accordion built for me by Claudio Beltrami of Stradella in Italy, If you want something unique e-mail him....he makes great "off-the-shelf" accordions but "tailor-made" accordions are his speciality (Website: www.beltrami-fisarmoniche.it ) It has King Major MIDI which sends the right hand notes, left hand chords and basses on different MIDI channels. (though this is not used on any of the tracks above) and a Sennheiser system of mics (3 on the right, one on the left) inside the case (but NOT in the bellows!) for accoustic amplification. I use a Zoom Guitar multi-effects pedal, mostly Flange, Echo and Distortion with occasional Pitch Shift.
Influences: I like loads of stuff...mostly rock, folk, jazz or pop. I've recently realised that I owe a lot of my playing style to Tony Banks (Genesis) and Jon Lord (Deep Purple).
