THE MUSICIAN’S AND GIG GOER’S GUIDE TO LIVE SOUNDAs a musician performing on a live stage where the instruments as well as vocals are mic’d up, you need to be aware that the requirements might be a little different to what you are used to and different rules apply. The sound the audience hears is carefully mixed and controlled by the sound engineer running the system and depending on the size of the venue, only a small proportion of the sound the audience hears actually comes directly from the stage. The sound engineer’s job is a very demanding one, especially if he brings all of his equipment with him and sets the stage from scratch. He will typically arrive at the venue two hours before the first performance and will be one of the last to leave.Anyone we work with will get a copy of our "Musicians & Gig Goer's Guide to Live Sound". Please take the time to read the simple guidelines and tips it contains, together with a little background info intended for both performers and audience members alike. It will make you more aware of how it all works, how to avoid things going wrong and explain how to make things easier for your engineer to concentrate on getting the best sound possible and keeping you safe at the same time. This document is posted in the Blog section but if you would like a copy at any time, just give us a call or drop us an e-mail, it's only a single double sided page but it could make all the difference to your understanding and future sound quality. It will also keep the sound engineer sweet and stop him moaning at you all night !
