The Dirty Great formed in the early half of Spring 2003 and have played in the current lineup since Sept 04. It was then that current vocalist Adam joined following the departure of original frontman Moz. Since then, The Dirty Great have released 2 cd's and gigged extensively with the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Gutworm, Kingsize Blues, Fireapple Red, The Rites and For Those Lost. The past year has seen the band head towards a more hardcore sound. Fusing elements of punk, garage, hardcore and groove orientated rock has helped create The Dirty Great's own sound...Shedcore!

Next up, The DirtyGreat and I have to say that these guys grow on me each time I have seen them. They opened with a powerful number well supported by physical activity and were rewarded in spades by the response from the crowd. The lead vocalist certainly gave his all and more besides. Members of the crowd were bizarrely calling, "Get the rug out!" which meant nothing to me until he took his shirt off and I could not believe what I was seeing. I know it's rude to point etc, but bloody 'ell it was incredible! Neil Duncan

The Dirty Great are a 4-piece band that experiment in metal, hardcore and some other random genres like funk to create a sound that cannot be related to any other band. Churning out some great solo parts and sharp riffs. The Dirty Great had an unusual unity between them, rarely making mistakes and were really tight throughout their set. Each member of the band had their own unique ability to offer to the music. The singer who looked a bit like Max from Soulfly was acting completely mental, switching from blissful harmonies to intoxicated screams whilst throwing his body around the backend of the pub. These guys just came outta nowhere, even though they are from just outside B/stoke. When I chatted to them, they described themselves as 'shedcore' and I quite like that moniker.
This is a fine piece of work, which incorporates a variety of styles to show off some of the skills of the band. They really do remind me of Rage Against The Machine and I hope the lads aren't upset by that comparison. They do play a brilliant sample of what you can expect to see them do live. The final track 'Fiddle' is a particularly good example and demonstrates just how tight this band are. I happy to urge you to catch them live if you possibly can and even better pick up a copy of this demo! Neil Duncan
