Bongo John is an artist developing a notable reputation in the RTP area for his skills as a drummer, percussionist, keyboard player, songwriter, and recording engineer.He owns a recording studio which has recently expanded in Morrisville, NC. He is also the sole recording engineer at Studio 313, a professional recording studio.In March 2005, he got a write up in the On-The-Move column in Modern Drummer Magazine.In his ten+ years living in the Raleigh area, he has done session work for several local artists, including: Yo Mamma's Big Fat Booty Band (Sound Scripture Studios - Durham, NC), The Lisa Ray Trio (Coffeehouse Recording Studios - Atlanta, GA), Chris Wimberley (Night Sound Studios - Carrboro, NC), and numerous recordings at his studio. Bands he has played with since having moved to North Carolina: Rebecca Lynne, Porchfire, Rubber Gypsy, Wicked and the Hip, Monkey Navigated Robots, and Jason Adamo.Currently, he plays drums for Zegg, Sean Aitken, Traces of Morrow (Stephen Jenkins), has been sitting in with Brent Jordan, Andy Garber, and working in several other projects. He has released two solo albums: "Over Wunderkind Wondering", the comedy album "Tallyho Aloha", and a 40 minute drum solo dedicated to the late Elvin Jones. He recorded and mixed two albums by other artists (Leah Magner and The Monika Jaymes Band) that were mastered at Kitchen Mastering in Carrboro, NC. He composed music for two underground films ("The Furies" and "Unresolved") for Mark Duncan of guerilla-pictures.At Studio 313, he's wrapping up tracking for Jason Adamo's new album (EP), as well as finishing mixes for an EP for the band Ascella Vega. Brent Jordan will be coming to the studio to record a full album, as well as Stephen Jenkins.
