National Holographic is an on-going collaboration between Ted Johnson (synthesizers and guitars) and Jason King (samplers and sound manipulation).
Our music is a mix of ambient soundscapes, evolving grooves, and experimental electronica with an emphasis on free-form improvisation. Over the course of 12 CD’s the band has recorded multi-dimensional audio images that evoke interstellar exploration, submarine voyages, African safaris, and surrealistic dream worlds.
Studio 713 has just released two new CD’s by National Holographic: The Sands of Time and In the Near Infrared. Other recent CD’s include Trance Encounter, Star Sailor, Flight of the Phoenix, and Enigma. An earlier CD, The Shores of Infinity, has been re-released with 12 additional tracks. See PICS for a list of all 12 CD’s.
Dale Caruso, an award-winning producer, has created two excellent videos honoring the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Chandra X-Ray Observatory. Each video has a soundtrack featuring music by National Holographic. You can see the Spitzer video on YouTube . You can view the Chandra video on Dale’s MySpace page .
