I'm in my mid-20s. I picked up a guitar at age 17 and I started writing soon after that. I listened to Green Day and Nirvana a lot so that's what I sounded like for years. There's still remnants of that in songs that I write today although it's not quite the carbon-copy sound I was producing then, I'd like to think I've evolved a little. One thing I took from that and a lot of alternative bands I grew up with it intensity: I like music that knocks you over and gives you a good beating.
I was in and out of two bands (neither made any kind of splash) in high school and founded a pretty rockin' band in college. That band made a moderate impact on the college scene but failed to generate the kind of buzz that would keep it together after graduation (mostly due to my then-lack of booking, promotion and marketing skills). I graduated and moved from WCU in the NC mountains to Raleigh, NC. I bounced around for a year and a half, started hosting open mics ( The Big Easy every Thursday night) and playing cover shows with a local musician named Keith Concar . One night after Keith left for California a tall, lanky kid named Jeff Human strolled into The Big Easy ... I think it was Oct. 30th. I can't remember, you'd have to ask him. That was the start of my current project, Wholesome News . The band was a killer two piece for months but just recently we've added Eric Shoff which rounds out the mix beautifully.
Hmm... I like fries and hot dogs, I enjoy beer and vanilla coke (the off brands as well), I play computer games when I need to kill time, I'm getting married in June to one Amanda Airey and I change my own oil 'cause I'm broke.
