About Me

Singer/songwriter Kit has been playing guitar and songwriting for a few years now, but only recently started recording, and playing live, mainly around Coventry, Rugby, Leamington and Leicester so far - feel free to invite Kit to play further afield if you like the songs!
The music is lyric-driven, guitar-based, acoustic, varied, individual. Kit's songs and delivery have been compared to Kirsty McColl, Hazel O'Connor, Grace Slick, Billy Bragg, Michelle Shocked, June Tabor, Vivienne McAuliffe, Alanis Morissette, Nico, Chrissie Hynde, Dolores Riordan/The Cranberries, Skunk Anansie, The Pixies, Heartthrob and "Joy Division meets Ani DiFranco". Recent tracks Still and Suicide Note have been sampled by speedcore fiend Seneca, and Kit is currently working on a cross-genre collaboration with UK rapper Deep Impakt.
Kit's debut album, The End of The Rainbow, is now available.

Track listing: What You've Done To Me, Wrong Turn, Never Stood A Chance, If, Turn Back The Clock, Still, Dividing Up, Ache In My Soul, Your Fault, Suicide Note.

What kind of music is it?
A frequent and circular conversation...
Scene i: Before the gig.
Dramatis personae:
Kit
A N Other
(Note: ANO is usually male: more persistent or keener on categorising??)
Q: What kind of music do you play?
A: Well, it's difficult to define. It's acoustic...
Q: Yes, but what kind of music?
A: People keep asking - especially bookers, which makes life difficult - but I really don't have an answer. I just don't know - and no-one else seems to be able to find the pigeonhole either...
Q: Yes, but you must have some kind of idea.
Continues in this vein for some time
Scene ii:
After the gig
Q: I really enjoyed that!
A: Thank you. ... So what kind of music do you think it is?
Lengthy pause
Q: I have no idea...

Influences: Lots of people ask me this, and I simply do not know. Where's the line between what you like, what you love, what you don't mind listening to, what you wouldn't live without, what you're in the mood for, and what actually *influences* you?

Take your pick out of any or all of the following stuff that I listen to, whether frequently, sometimes, or rarely... Some, there's just one song - but it's one I can't imagine living without, one that touched me, made me see the world a different way... Others, I have everything they ever made. And the list is by no means comprehensive...
