About Me

Must love dogs, cats, birds (the animal kingdom) to get along with me. Compassion for animals is necessary for you and I to relate!
"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." (Albert Einstein)
"Nothing will benefit health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." (Albert Einstein)
"If we are not in harmony with ourselves, how can we possibly be in harmony with anyone else, much less the world that we inhabit?"(Shirley Maclaine)
"I Love Animals...all animals" (PROVERBS 12:10)
Robin Williams and Koko have a shared mission: to save the great apes. The Gorilla Foundation's mission to save great apes has been endorsed by a number of well-known people and organizations including: • Robin Williams (MAP honorary co-chair) • Sting (MAP honorary co-chair) • Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund Europe • Orangutan Foundation International • Roger Fouts (author of "Next of Kin") • Amory Lovins (CEO, RMI.org) • Betty White, Gloria Steinem, Helen Reddy • Peter Gabriel, Tippi Hedren, Whoopi Goldberg • Michael Crichton, Martina Navratilova, . . .
I'd prefer foggy mornings by the ocean, hot summer days, and being in a cathedral of woods (just not tick season) to most anything else. I love the sound of silence and music that moves me and sets the pace for running. I usually only tolerate loud music if I'm trying to stay awake driving, or at concerts where you inevitably need to wear earplugs if you want to keep your hearing! I prefer to eat vegetarian, enjoy candle light, massage, and clean fingernails. Body language is the key to romance! I come from a small family and believe in respect for my elders. I don't smoke or think belching and "passing wind" for a laugh is funny (sorry, not a Howard Stern fan)! NOT a football fan either (soccer's OK my UK friends)!
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." (Emerson)
I just try to be myself (none other)! -Bobby

My Interests

"Leaving Reality Barefoot"
Most of all I am a nature lover and environmental issues concern me (my past work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The Raptor Trust in the Great Swamp has heightened my awareness of conflicts between man and his environment).
Lonesome George, Galapagos Islands (photo by B. Brennan),
I love going to galleries and the impressionists, Picasso, VanGogh, the work's of George Segal, (Depression Bread Line, 1999 by George Segal)
Frank Lloyd Wright, and photography (especially infrared).

I love spicy foods, fine wines, (photo by B.Brennan)
dancing on roller skates, running, and hiking for exercise, (though my 'secret' is I'd love to be a drummer!! It would be a great way to exercise and release the stress of my main job (working in a Laboratory) which rated higher than air traffic controllers for that...no kidding),
antiques (especially oak), anything cotton, wood floors, dexterity and jigsaw puzzles, orchids, (photo taken at one of my favorite local grower's greenhouse,)

-"Mother Teresa marked the history of our century with courage. She served all human beings by promoting their dignity and respect, and made those who had been defeated by life feel the tenderness of God." - Pope John Paul II

Music:

What moves me, moves me; but I could live without Rap! I'm no country bumpkin either (been there, tried it for a while) but Celtic and Bluegrass music is incredible (though I can play the basics on guitar, my fingers don't move that fast to have a musician's profile instead)!

Tim,
(Superstar Mel Gibson gives a sensitive performance as Tim, a mentally retarded young man who falls in love with an attractive business-woman in her mid 40's. This is more than a May-September love story -- it's a study of human frailty, courage and devotion. The suberb cast includes co-star Piper Laurie as well as Awyn Kurts and Pat Evison as Tim's parents).

Television:

Though I'm not an avid viewer, the Discovery Channel has shows of particular interest to me. I have also enjoyed the Quantum Leap series. When it comes to todays news, I prefer to hear it on the radio, but for a needed laugh, some of the old movies, Red Skelton, Monty Python, Topper, Hogan's Heros,
Mr. Ed,
Johnny Carson,
Zacherley,

I Love Lucy,
The Honeymooners, (The Honeymooners "Young at Heart", 1956)
my latest love, Mr. Monk,
and most of all, MASH, always does the trick! The results of this quiz even surprised me!! Which Sex and the City player am I?...

Books:

Mutant Message Down Under, Aesop's Fables,
Into The Wild, Into Thin Air, The Tiny Book of Tiny Houses, A Dog's Book of Truths and Shadow Divers (Ridley Scott ("Kingdom of Heaven") has signed on to bring Robert Kurson's novel "Shadow Divers" to the big screen (though not in the near future). Plot Outline: Two wreck divers discover the hull of a German U-boat off the coast of New Jersey and spend the next seven years of their lives searching for the truth behind the ship and men who died inside it. Having dove with and painfully waited for the safe return of those who risked their lives on this adventure, I can only say that wreck-diving is not a "sport" to be undertaken without great discipline, and strength of body and mind. Every soldier of the sea has his or her own battle and if you lose, well, there is no room for error! This heroic true story will educate and shock you as the divers risk everything to solve one of the last mysteries of WWII!). Shadow Divers Ritchie Kohler and John Chatterton

Heroes:

"That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.""Shadow Divers" (Doug, John, Kevin, Ritchie) (About diving Kevin wrote: "You lived through all of this with me. As exciting as it was, I stopped diving like this in part to give you peace of mind. Perhaps I am still around because of that decision.")
