Born April 16 in Berkeley, Ca Lynette was a very young age when she discovered her love for music. It was at the tender age of 8 when hearing a family friend playing "Yes Jesus Loves Me" on the piano and then repeating the melody on the piano with one finger that her parents realized she had something special. Almost immediately her Dad, the late Dr. Samuel Williams Sr. Pastor of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, enrolled her in Chucks Academy of Music where she studied under the late and great pianist/organist Daniel Williams. But it wasn't until Lynette heard Rev. Norman Bradley her's dad's Minister of Music play the organ. Every Sunday she looked forward to sitting on the side pew next to the organ listening to every chord, every line, chop that he had. He played with such enthusiasm and saw the hunger to learn everything in her eyes that he started picking her up from school 4 times a week and teaching her everything he knew. Her dad had already started her playing in church with only 2 fingers on the piano at age 9 then she progressed to two hands with one finger in the left and 3 fingers in the right. By the time she turned 12 she had graduated to playing the organ, and though she was still getting the hang of using the foot pedals without looking completely down at her feet, Norman would show her things and techniques to make it easy for her to comprehend. He became like her big brother and never suger-coated anything. At times she felt discouraged but she didn't give up. It wasn't until one Sunday when Norman broke his hand, and was in a cast for 6 months that Lynette had to play all by herself. No organist to hide behind on the piano. For 6 months it was just her and the drummer. This made her stronger then ever. Because of the patience and determination all her teachers in the past had Lynette was awarded a scholarship to Berklee College of Music at age 17. From there her passion and talents and confidence would only get better. This opportunity opened her up to a whole new world of music. She already had the Gospel background but this expanded her horizons and she realized that she could learn and play just about any style. With gospel as her root, she also plays Jazz, Blues, R&B, Country, Latin styles, Neo-soul, and whatever comes her way. Lynette knows that God has something for her life and she hopes that she can share her music and her love for it to the world, for she knows that Music is the UNIVERSAL language!!
