DJ MADGENIUS

DJ MadGenius is from North Carolina, a state where musical talent is often harvested, but rarely cultivated. Giving back its’ heritage and birthright was his mission. In 1993, Mr. Vincent Black had visions of North Carolina carrying the torch for the South in the area of music, alongside Atlanta. He formed alliances with his producers in Charlotte, and other production companies in Miami and Dallas to identify with the Southeastern states. With private investors, seed money of $1.5 million from a West Coast venture capitalist, a newly formed record label with a roster of twelve artists, a distribution deal on the table and sheer determination, this vision was on the verge of invading reality. Then events beyond his influence forced him to abandon his efforts, and his dream was an inherent casualty. It lay dormant for 6 years in the caverns of his mind, planning for the day it would resurface, a renaissance forged in an undeniable tenacity, reborn like a phoenix by its desire for his musical heritage to be acknowledged. This newfound force gave birth to DJ MadGenius and formed the foundations for TEKNICA.
A self-described “visionary”, DJ MadGenius always has music on the mind. “By 1999, the digital music software for the PC had matured and me being heavy into computers decided to give some of the software a try. Since then, I've been hooked!”
“In 2002, I decided on the name for myself...MADGENIUS, or MAD-G for short. The ‘DJ’ moniker, for me, stands for ‘Digital Jockey’. The name itself stems from my ‘maddening desire’ for Technology and ‘the art of creative genius’ that moves us all to create.’In 2004, He started working with a trio of ladies originally from DC and currently in the ATL named "Insight". He has produced numerous tracks for them, but everything is still in pre-production. In 2005, they performed one song produced by him they titled; "Dirty Laundry" in the UK, and for a new song, never heard before in any fashion, the crowd’s response was huge! It was that moment his motivation to proceed with his own personal music project was cemented.
DJ MadGenius states his influences encompasses a broad range from Paul Oakenfold, The Crystal Method, Linkin Park, to Diddy, James Brown, Timberland, and The Neptunes, even Santana, Mozart, and J.S. Bach. “I have forged my numerous influences to design a style that is distinctive, yet mainstream. As you listen to my music, I use some signature sounds in most of my productions to put my personal stamp on it, as well as give a nod to those who influence me.”Visualizing the numerous musical textures that can be interwoven into a song, “DJ MadG” seeks to produce a form of Musical Alchemy where none existed. Like Alchemists of the past, his objective is to produce gold (something new) from what was once lead (something old). All musical archetypes from Classical to Pop, Rock and Jazz, to Dance and Hip-Hop are subjected to his experiments in Electronica, the catalytic agent, and the amalgamated sound receives a new title: “TEKNICA”.
What is TEKNICA? It is the process in which these musical forms are transformed. “TEKNICA is the Theme. TEKNICA is the Dream. TEKNICA is the Essence. TEKNICA is the Sound of Technology in Motion. TEKNICA, it’s the Soul of TECHNO!” TEKNICA is an acronym that stands for “Technologically Enhanced Kinetic Nuances of Infectious Cybernetic Acoustics”. A sound born in the spirit of alchemy, and the SOUL provided by its creator, TEKNICA is the bridge that connects all of these musical forms together. It is this process of “Musical Alchemy Evolution” and the infusion of a “Soul” into each song by its creator that makes the music of DJ MadGenius worth giving an ear.
