WHO IS HE?
At 21 years old Tony Portelli Created the record label/publishing company, 4Liberty Records Ltd & 4Liberty publishing with just five hundred U.K pounds, he signed acts who he grew up dancing to in the clubs, Evelyn'Champagne'King, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Marshall Jefferson to name but three. Within 3 years of inception 4Liberty achieved there first european hit record with 'Love Cant Turn Around' by Farley Jackmaster Funk. The Label also released the 'Real House' album mixed by Farley jackmaster funk & Marshall Jefferson. (records/remixes also by Keith Thompson, Judge Jules, Benji Candelario, Hippie Torrales, Kerri Chandler, Ricky Morrison & Fran Sidoli, Smack Prod. Carl Bias, Joey Washington, Althea Mcqueen, Connie Harvey, Danny J. Lewis, Booker T. Joe T Vanelli, DJ Camacho, Matt Jam Lamont, Noel Watson, Deisel, Johan S, Masterstepz, Jammer, Jameson, to name a few). Tony's main goal always was to break new music first and foremost. He helped Part create a genre called U.K House and Garage or U.K Garage/2Step. Signed one of the 4Liberty acts, namely The Dreem Teem, firstly to Kiss Fm, Galalxy Network, then a breakfast show on BBC Radio 1, in addition Tony Portelli produced a one hour documentary for MTV Europe on his beloved genre and the artists signed to his label.
Whilst all that was going on and after many hit records including The Dreem Teem 'The Theme', three Dreem Teem 'In Session' Albums (of which one was a top 10 in the U.K sales chart and spent 5 weeks in the top 20), the ground breaking Dreem Teem v Neneh Cherry 'Buddy X 99', DJ Phantasy's Elements Of Freedom' album, & 'Music Is My Life' single, Colour Girl's album 'Special' plus the singles 'Joyrider', 'Tears', 'Cant Get Used To Losing You' and 'Mas Que Nada' featuring PSG, Maxwell D 'Serious', Elephant Man, B.Live, Major Ace, Jookie Mundo, Aaron Soul, Paleface and a Boyz NDa Hood recording, the 'Made Great In Britain' album mixed by Timmi Magic (and european tour) , the 'Garage Anthems' album mixed by Marvel & Eli. 4 Liberty Group also organised remixes and club promotion of records by Ma$e, Faith Evans, All Saints, Shola Ama, Amira, Amar, Peice by Peace, Mos Def, Damage, Linden David Hall (RIP), (and lots more), in 2000 4Liberty Records Entered a worldwide label deal, the company was shut down in 2002.2005 saw Tony Write the book entitled, The Music Industry Raw (Pirates, Clubs, House and Garage), which was published by author house (U.S.A) on the 31st December 05 (WHICH IS NO LONGER ON SALE)
At present, the focus is on promoting the new signings to the M.I.RAW Label (DJ Q / DJ Footloose / Jay Harvey / Mark Dwayne / / Maxwell D (once again) Saint B Baby pres. The Garage All Stars.. Remixing Acts such as ; Mark Ronsen & Amy Winehouse , Cha'nelle, H20 & Platinum, Dizzy Rascal.. Managing BBC 1xtra's DJ Q and Dj Footloose. Fine Tuning The M.I.RAW Movie manuscript, and designing 'BRAND M.I.RAW 1970' Clothes Line.
