Persona Bars is a rapper whose rapping style is unique, as he has been honing his craft since his early secondary school years.Virtu-oso is a producer. He adopts the traditional side of production, which involves sampling. However he samples from all different genres of music as opposed to just soul music. He also composes music without the use of sampling. His inspiration derives from producers such as Pete Rock, The Rza, Jay Dilla and Dj Premier (Premo), The Bomb Squad, The Lench Mob and he likes the more recent producers like Timbaland, Joe Buddah, Just Blaze, Harry Love, Dr Dre, 9th Wonder and The Neptunes.Virtu-oso and Persona Bars alongside J Da General founded their own label (Get Focus Records) in an attempt to group themselves and other artists who they recruit.Persona Bars has performed at numerous venues and has always been praised for his energetic and charismatic performances. As he said on one track, Ive got ten Number 1s, ten Number 2s. He can cater for all listeners. He is able to articulate his thoughts on tracks with an important message such as Nothing Really Matters, Black People, Struggle (all on Takeover 2006), etc, while still being able to keep the track entertaining enough for the listener by staying witty and energetic. P has the ability to please both the underground fans as well as the fans that want the commercial sounding music. He and the rest of Get Focus have the support of leading underground DJ, Smasherelly (winner of the UMAs Best Underground DJ category).
Praise is also shone on Virtu-oso for his innovative and creative productions. He produces the majority of music that is made from Get Focus and as part CEO, handles some of the business aspects. He also raps sometimes- creating hooks for tracks or writing to tracks when he feels compelled to. At one point Sony was interested until the A&R in question left and that situation ended and they stated that they werent currently looking for this type of music.Their music has been played on Baseline 97.9fm (Dj Smasherelly) & Power Jam. Persona has also been played on Jenny Francis show on Choice Fm regularly. On Persona's second album Takeover 2006, a video entitled Black People, a positive & uplifting track, was to be shown on Channel U but was remarkably not put on the playlist. It is however on this page. Get Focus are currently working on the B-Town mixtape, which should be released during summer 2007.
