Some mornings, it just doesn't pay to gnaw through the leather straps

About Me

Losta towns, lotsa whiskey, losta women ... good times, bad times. The only thing I want anyone ta say is he was good ... he sure could play.

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.
I was born in Madrid. I am Spanish by blood. I began drumming at the age of five ... working juke joints at thirteen. Entered college at eighteen ... dropped out at twenty one to go on the road. Landed a six million dollar record deal in Hollywood when I was twenty three ... lived like a rockstar in the Hollywood Hills, London, and New York City ... 'til the deal fell through seven years later at the age of thirty ... broke and a heroin addict who was living on the couches of Hollywood, I went into rehab ... cleaned up and moved to Memphis, began researching the roots of rock through the Delta Blues, and landed back in college to finish my degree at the age of thirty two. I went back to work on the road playing high energy, new age rockabilly. Toured with some major names in the biz during this time. In fifteen years at the average of 2500 miles a week (conservative)plus long distance international dates, I figure I easily traveled over 6 million miles ... thats just a quick guess. By thirty nine I quit it all to recluse deep in the Ozark mountains North of Memphis. Burned out from the road I stayed outta the game for three years ... recharged my batteries until I felt like walking on the edge of the music scene again.

I currently reside onna farm ... wear farmer boots, drive farmer trucks, and pretty much keep to myself, my family, and my piano. Until time to do weekly sessions or shows. I don't travel the roads as much as the old days, but I do branch out for 300 miles or so, and into to Memphis for a session, or jam the Southern night away inna local smoke drenched dive or rock club in Mississippi, Arkansas, or Tennessee.

If your so inclined, I would be glad ta provide dates and and tymes. Those interested in booking sessions and so forth ... drop me a line. Until we meet ... hope you enjoy your stay here on my site.Ya'll come back now ... ya hear ???

Gary Busey, Issac Hayes, Johnny Depp, Rock City Angels, Axl Rose, Wynonna, Backflash, Elam McKnight & the West Levee Phantoms, Loaded Goat, Jimmy Page, Tanya Tucker, Jason D Williams, James Burton, Fatman & the Manaics, Billy Ray Cirrus, Beale Street Blues Band, Jimmy Wolf, Mojo Buford, Son of Slam, Kevin Bacon, ... these are a few of the artists I have drummed behind in my musical past.

Now before you get to far into this ... please realize that I paid more attention in marching band than I did in English 101, so try to look over my typos, run on sentences, and GOD forbid ... dangling modifiers ! With that said throw your coat in the corner, kick off your shoes n' sit a spell and thanx for droppin' in and monkeying around.

Ya'all still here ? Well damn.

If your so inclined ... look through the vids on my video slider. There's everything there from band practices, jam sessions, recording sessions, cross-country road trips, me and friends acting wacky, some of my fav videos , blah, blah blah !!!

... here's a few of my favorite vids

Music:

Jukes Drum solo May 2007 ~ Memphis

The music I seek are the sympathetic vibrations still resounding from the BIG BANG. But with that being such a bitch to detect and find on CD nowdays I tend to go into anything that moves me.

Could be Rock, Opera, a Rock Opera, Hillbilly Jazz, Ole Country Western, Church Organ, Farm Metal, House, Damn good Polkas, Be-Bop, Psychedelia, Swing, or the sounds of the forest at day break.

WHAT ? YOU ARE STILL HERE READIN' ?

Well since your puttin' me on the spot ... I guess when it's all said and done I would be hard pressed to live without hearing Garland pondering "SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW", Satchmo thinkin' "IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD", Steve Earle warning us 'bout "COPPERHEAD ROAD", Thin Lizzy recalling their search for "THE EMERALD", Bauhaus lamenting how "BELA LUGOSI'S DEAD" or any version of "MY WAY", be it by Sinatra, that lil' brat Sidney, or The KING, himself !!!

Oh Yeah ... some day the "Circle will be Unbroken"

at the GREAT GIG in the SKY !!!

Ofcourse the best music is always the kind you make yourself !!!

Movies:

Horror, PERFORMANCE, NOIR, "Dracula" (1938), "It's A Wonderful Life", "A Clockwork Orange", "Black Snake Moan", "School of Rock", "Findin Nemo" ... I mean what the F&%* ! I'd rather make them than watch if ya catch my drift.

So "here's your map, here's your complimentary chicken, don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out" of this section

Television:

GREAT FOR DROPPIN' FROM HIGH BUILDINGS !!! and playin' video games !!!
