Nature, music, books ...

About Me

I love nature and the countryside, and have a passion for islands, the coast and mountains. I am interested in exploring places from different perspectives - their natural history, history and culture - and the artistic responses they have inspired. Birdwatching has been a longstanding interest of mine. I like the Celtic countries, especially Scotland and Ireland.Music is a major interest: I especially like Celtic (particularly Scottish Gaelic), funk, alternative pop, singer-songwriters, world and folk. Over the last five years, I have done some music reviewing for various magazines and websites although have decided now to take a break from this and concentrate more on other writing including poetry.I always enjoy reading including novels and poetry. Although I was born, brought up and live in England, I have a Latvian father so Latvia and the Baltic States interest me too. I got into digital photography last year and enjoy it very much. The beautiful photograph of Scottish singer Karen Matheson is © Lieve Boussauw.
