A "gifted exponent of the harp" (Net Rhythms), Rachel Hair is fast making a name for herself as one of the most exciting and dynamic performers of her generation.
Hailing from the Scottish Highlands, her eclectic mix of Scottish, Irish and Original music draws much of its inspiration from her time studying alongside jazz, rock and classical musicians; added to her mixed Scots and Irish parentage, these influences have led her to be described as “one of the most innovative young musicians to have emerged over the last few years” (The Irish Music Review)
A first class honours Music graduate, Rachel has performed extensively throughout the UK, Europe and America; as well as on Radio and TV, performing with musicians including Karen Matheson, Donald Shaw, Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker and Laoise Kelly.
Her debut album “Hubcaps and Potholes” was recently released to great critical acclaim. Showcasing the harp as a solo instrument, it features both solo tracks and collaborations with pianist Douglas Millar and traditional flautist Peter Webster.
